Hi all, thanks for good input! There are several reasons for a bike bag trolley vs. cardboard box: the bike bag trolley easily rolls along. It might get wet when i transport it without car on the way to airport. I can more easily stuff non-bike stuff into the bike bag trolley when i pack it at home compared to a packing service in the bicycle store (non-bike stuff may not be allowed as per airline regulations, but IRL i never had a problem neither with non-bike stuff nor overweight up to 42 kgs). The bike bag trolley has pros and cons, i see the cons, but i just tend to the bike bag trolley for now (especially as i already own it) (that bike bag is expensive and even without a bicycle inside, a GPS tracker might be in order). And yes, i only want to store the bag, not the bicycle. I could also carry around the empty bike bag trolley in the car. I did that too one time. It's just a slight nuisance.
