Thai Woman Seeks Justice After Neighbour Allegedly Shoots Pet Cat

A young Thai woman is demanding justice for her beloved pet cat, Si Muang, after a neighbour reportedly shot the animal with an airsoft gun. The incident allegedly occurred due to the neighbour's frustration with the noise from her motorcycle.

Officers from Mueang Udon Thani Police Station responded to the animal abuse report on May 6 in the Sam Phrao sub-district, Udon Thani province. The area is described as a densely populated slum near a landfill.

The cat's owner, 20-year-old Yupin, guided the police to her injured black cat, Si Muang, who was struggling to breathe due to a neck wound. Si Muang, meaning "purple colour," is particularly dear to Yupin, who described the feline as friendly and playful. She reassured authorities that her five cats, including Si Fah, Si Khao, Pocky, and Aomsin, have never caused community issues.

Yupin suspects her neighbour, referred to only as Em, shot Si Muang while the cat was playing on her house's roof. The police visited Em's residence, but he was absent. They instructed Yupin to seek veterinary care for Si Muang and to formally file her complaint at the station.

In the course of her allegations, Yupin speculated that Em’s actions were provoked by irritation over the noise from her motorcycle engine. Amidst her distress, she expressed a strong desire for Em to experience the same suffering as her cat. Furthermore, she requested that police investigate Em for alleged involvement in drug activity, citing concerns about drug use and trafficking.

This case highlights the emotional impact of animal cruelty and the complexities involved when neighbourhood disputes escalate to violence against pets. The investigation continues as authorities work to verify Yupin's claims and ensure justice for Si Muang.

This I can believe.

If someone shot my cat, I'd return fire.
