Covid-19 Resurgence in Thailand: Over 8,000 Cases Reported in a Week

When did COVID disappear? As far as I know, it never really went away. But this whole thing seems fishy. I bet the officials are up to some corruption.

I tested positive this weekend, 3rd time getting it, it feels slightly better than the first 2 times. A lot of vitamins and water.

Don't forget, believe everything the legacy media tells you. Sadly the world's full of sheeple and said sheeple are well represented on this forum.

True, although I haven't seen one post from the 'usual suspect.' You know the one with the never-ending sources of information detailing how the shot is good for you.

It's strange ...... in a funny sort of way, I miss his posts. (NOT) 🙂

Why is it even being tested for? Whether or not it's Covid, or Influenza A or Rhinovirus, or any other respiratory virus makes not one bit of difference to the treatment. Patients should be treated by their symptoms and not diagnosis.

Many years ago when I was an ED nurse, anyone with a sniffle was tested for influenza A, the idea being if they were positive they would be given Tamiflu. Tamiflu was as effective as a placebo, but it was the new thing.

It's about time Western medicine and health authorities got over themselves with this nonsense. That having been said, I note many Thais will go to a hospital or clinic for the most minor of ailments.

It seems 3 billion years of commonsense and a bit of self-care is trumped by a visit to a clinic and a prescription for the A to Z of what probably doesn't do very much!

May I ask why you tested?

Had you tested negative, would you have done anything different?

If so, is there any reason to believe that something you may have had other than Covid should have been treated differently?

I'm not taking the piss, it's a serious question.

I am so happy to have all the qualified? doctors and virologists here on AN telling me that it is all a load of rubbish, and that I have no need to worry about Covid, as it is ONLY the flu virus.

I sometimes wonder why doctors and the health/hospitals etc are needed at all.

The answers to everything can always be found on AN and its current crop of posters.

That depends on what the symptoms are like.

How many flu "related" deaths have their been in that time period?

Yup.  Masks and lockdowns for the rest of time.  🙄

That hasn't been suggested yet except by YOU.

How many people were killed by the so called " Spanish Flu" outbreak in the 1920s.? About one million at least.

It was in fact an "American flu" strain.

Of course it is a Farang disease, couldn't be Thai.

What amuses me is seeing a Thai driving in his / her car (alone) wearing a mask.

Saves them looking for it when they leave the car!

Covid infections  never went away. They started increasing in Jan- March because so many infected  people arrived. The high this year was at the end of  Feb with  7.3 /million cases  reported  every day. (The number is much higher since most people do not report their infections.)  As that wave receded, cases next increased during the Songkran period because of the  crowded gatherings.  8,446 cases requiring hospital visits reported between April 27 and May 3 is a warning.

If people are presenting at hospitals it is because their symptoms are severe enough to cause them to seek help.

What's missing from this article is severity. Covid, flu, and colds. Which one is worse? Obviously influenza. Covid/Omicron has been a non-severe viral infection for years.

Covid is a severe viral infection because of the long term damage it causes. The damage is cumulative.

Must be due to all the foreign tourists coming to Thailand.

It does have a  relationship with the  foreigners who arrived and who spread the disease.

I think the reason people have an issue with it is precisely because it isn't a case of common sense.  If there isn't any real reason to wear masks (outside of pollution), but people do, it seems kind of daft.  Then you've got the issue of some Thais only wearing a mask around foreigners.  It's really a case of alarmism/hysteria, with a hint of racism.

There is a good reason to wear a mask. I was on the local  sonthaw and  one foreigner was busy coughing and sneezing on everyone. I regretted not having a mask. It is understandable why so many Thais mask up around foreigners because the foreigners are arrogant in their  behaviors coughing and spitting where they want. The only people who smoke in restaurants and in  other places  that have no smoking signs clearly posted.

What point are you trying to make?  You're not explaining yourself clearly at all.

My sister- 85 years old living in UK gets a Covid-19 shot every year. As does every other elderly person. But the UK has the NHS and no anti vax campaign. We don't have to pay for our shots including for influenza and all the other childhood ones the Americans are in a panic about. LOL

No it is not. I note that in all hospitals doctors and nurses wear mask to prevent infection from airborne illnesses. I think I will acknowledge their  superior knowledge over your opinions.  It has been known for decades that masks prevent air borne infection. But you don't have to wear one because you have that combination of intellect and physical strength.

So, because doctors and nurses in hospitals wear masks, Thais should wear masks only around forefingers because "foreigners have covid"?

You sound insane (and probably racist).

That's why I never stopped wearing a mask, even in the shower and ........    I knew when I saw others wearing a mask in 2025 they knew something as well.   Masks for life!!!!!   Three when sleeping and four when driving, replace every 9 minutes.

How many babies were born during the Covid Crisis,

With their fathers being Un-Identifiable,

For the fact the their mothers never saw the father without a mask?
