Featured Replies

When im in Thailand i meet some real foreigner friends We use to take a morning walk in lumpini park.

Sometimes lunch together.Anyway if i stay in a bar and hear people from my country i never contact them.

I speak thai well so i prefer sit and talk with thais in a bar or pub.

touché 👍 Nailed it.    I've been living in the same house over 20 years, back in the day it was RARE to find a nutter, these days most foreigners are aggressive, hostile fruitcakes.

I talk with farang and Thais every day. I don't go looking for either of them. Frankly, the more people I speak with, the more I like my dog. And I don't even have a dog.

  • My God! What a fantastic topic. I wonder where all are this time, to point out that people are trash talking foreigners? I mean, as soon as I point out ne that has done something stupid or behaved bad

Of course not all AN members but many are well-described by this :

"Blind to their own faults, self praising and self satisfied. Appalling."

Amazing how many find any thread an opportunity to brag.

Even "What did you have for breakfast?" threads.

Well, today for breakfast I had Eggs Benedict, a 10oz Argentine Ribeye, Oysters Rockefeller, Piedmont White Truffle, some Almas Caviar, along with a 1982 Roederer Cristal, followed by  a small desert of Strawberries Arnaud and Kopi Luwak coffee.

I had breakfest at Hayatt airport, it was okay, actually. Fish, fruit, rice, smoked ham, diverse cheese, coffe. Coffe was very good.

About 5 minutes ago, she's a Thai, as we're in Cambodia right now we're both foreigners, don't understand a word of it - neither of us 🤣

Asking those who live in Thailand....

The last time that I spoke with a 'farang' was about 4 weeks ago when I said 'thank-you' to a young Russian guy who held the lift for me in my Jomtien condo building.  I don't go out of my way to socialise with foreigners in Thailand because most seem to be pot-heads, 'hidden' nutters (who seem quite sociable at first, but then reveal themselves as totally mad), or those many grumpy old men who seem to be suffering from dementia.

Otherwise, I seem only to interact with Thais 🙂on a daily basis.  None seem to be pot-heads, the nutters are quite vocal and easily avoided, and I always get a smile from the old folk when I give them a cheery 'sawadee kap'.

How about you.  Do you live in a farang bubble?  Or a Thai bubble for that matter?

Thai neighborhood. I find the Expats not very friendly.  Thai people are much easier to talk too.

Liquor for breakfast  - are you an alcoholic?

Champagne with a ribeye steak ....hmmm.

Thank you for adjudicating my assessment in my original post.

You should check your blood pressure.

115/54 resting pulse 58 And again, that was a paragraph. I don't make one line paragraphs like some here do, as they are not paragraphs, although some can't assimilate words if it's a long paragraph and I feel for them. I didn't adjudicate your assessment, as your assessment was wrong. You assumed 50%, and you have no idea, so again, it was an assumption, an opinion, worthless.

Don’t remember the last time i spoke with a foreigner but i am an antisocial tw#t.

Used to chat once a month with Bob ( not Smith ) as he was a fellow Brit, but he left for New Zealand a few years ago and never came back …… i have that effect on people.

John, another Brit, lives near me and i maybe see him in the local market every six months, i turned down his offer to go drink some beers so our conversations are limited to a nod of the head and a half smile ……. he has cottoned on to my level of tw#tiness !!

Don’t get me wrong i will help out anyone who genuinely requires help, Thai or foreigner, but i don’t make friends to hear their life story as it is usually unfeasibly dull or full of BS.

I will chat to the Thai next door over the wall occasionally but we are neither proficient in each other’s languages so it is usually just to be polite and neither of us gets much from the conversation.

In fact I would say I speak more to the cat than anyone else and he can’t be bothered to answer back …… tw#t !!

It was a joke. Of course no champagne with a ribeye. That would be better suited with a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. Tannins are necessary.

fred is giving me a headache. Does he ever give it a rest? Sheesh...

Some can't handle the truth, so require medicine to ease their pain. Try paracetamol. Or just scroll by. We won't miss ya.

The topic is "when was the last time you spoke with a foreigner?" Seems someone thinks it's all about him. Enough said.

Mrs once took a German couple from lower Sukhumvit to the Ancient City in Samut Prakhan on the bus between her classes, they never even sent her the promised photos they took together!

And how many times will this happen before you start asking questions?😉

Yes you did.  It’s was my assessment, not yours.  My call, not yours.

You can disagree with my assessment but it’s still my assessment.

Actually I was being conservative in my assessment of 50%.

Paragraphs would help

A paragraph is usually considered a group of sentences, although one line is okay. If you can't comprehend what I write, let me know and I'll separate the sentences more, just for you. And again, you're assuming 50% of foreigners here are nutters and the other 50% hermits. You do understand you are insulting foreigners living here right? By the way, which category are you in?

To the OP's question;

Does talking to yourself count?

Surprised you haven’t followed the pattern of others when they get frustrated with opposing views.

The time honored tradition of putting someone on ignore.

One would have to be frustrated before that would happen. Opinions mean nothing. Insulting other foreigners is a pretty childish thing, especially if you are one.

Can you imagine trying to have a conversation with a foreigner who always thinks they are right...even when they are not?

I don't believe such a person has or can have any real foreigner friends in Thailand.

Best to not read his posts, I don't too long and waffling, he isn't able to summarise, but he's very smart apparently 🤣

Good idea, so I won't have to prove you wrong so many times. Ask your cronies to follow suit, because they just can't seem to stay away. You know, birds of a feather. Not being able to comprehend what's written is on you, and not I.

It's a shame, but certain characters, even on an anonymous forum, let their egos get the better of them. That's the kind of foreigner I would avoid in real life.

In real life, sometimes it's best to be diplomatic. But some characters feel they need to win, in every discussion. It's pathetic.

It should be light and fun. But instead...

I believe we all are a bit of everything here. No excuses just the nature of the dynamics of the forum

Paracetamol only relieves mild pain. It's also a bad idea to mix it with alcohol, due to potentially dangerous liver toxicity.

IIRC Pontius Pilate asked "What is truth?" and got a circular argument in response.

I'm not going to read any of that.

The topic is "when was the last time that you spoke with a foreigner". Try to not act like a narcissist, making it all about you.

"farang" is too general to define who is farang and who is just jackass. So, if farang means non-thai, than today morning. at JTC, Silom, Bangkok.

Yes, a group of sentences but start a new paragraph with a change in thought.

Such as in your last post after “you” but before “And again “.  Your train of thought changes over to the 50% comments so a new pharaoh.

My method just makes for easier reading, not because of comprehension.

50% nutters (conservative).  That was my assessment, not assumption.  You can disagree but changes nothing on my part.

The assessment was generic, not specifically targeted towards one individual so get off your white horse. and ditch the armor.

“You do understand you are insulting foreigners living here right?”

I have no control nor care how foreigners view my assessment.  “Insulting “ is your word, not mine.

Your method is also wrong. One line paragraphs aren't the usual. You think your method makes for easier reading because maybe it's easier for you. Very few here have commented like that about my paragraphs, so I'm guessing some just aren't too swift at reading.

Stick to your guns. That's your deal, but you're still wrong, and are still assuming. It's obvious you don't care what others think. People that insult others usually don't, and many times have a tendency to lump all into a group.

That would be your forte. Mine is called empath. And yes, try reading all of the replies before you come in and troll someone. You missed were I said I talk to foreigners all the time, almost daily. If you read what others have said to me, you might get it why I came back with my replies. But, knowing you, you took the side of people who are just like you, which isn't surprising.
