They have a long way to go to catch up with Vietnam (also the price)

Viet Nam is leaving Thailand in the dust in the craft beer industry and the gap is getting wider by the day.

I've just returned from Vietnam. Amazing craft beer and not expensive. Another nail in Thailand's coffin if they don't get with the tourism program.

Throughout Viet Nam, from Ha Noi to Da Nang and all the way down south Sai Gon, each city has their own craft brands with all unique and distinctive craft taste.

So does this mean that they have abolished the law that required a brewery to produce a gazillion litres per day in order to be allowed to operate - thereby creating the ThaiBev/Bood Rawd duopoly?

And here in Thailand you can even buy malt from Vietnam… I prefer Castle Malting from my homcountry and also available here.

I meant home country, by the way Castle Malting (Malterie du Château) is in Beloeil where my grandfather was born.

Don't get hopes too high; remember what happened to the Casino !

What happened to the casino?

They are still "discussing" it, for long periods of time, just the same as they do with everything else.

But the casino WILL come, NO doubt about it, because Thai (especially govt) LOVES money, and the casino will bring in tons of it!!!

The musician Carabao has a drinks 'factory' producing energy drinks, soft drinks and drinks labeled as 'Carabao...' I think the 'Dunkel' is very good and he also produces an IPA (as well as others) under the brand 'Tawandaeng'. Local prices (slightly more than the big producers) and well worth trying if you like that kind of drink. Bring on the home brewing for personal consumption.

I have yet to see Carabao's IPA, a beer I like ,Dunkal is not bad, but has gotten sweeter to cater to the Thai palate.

the reviews are excellent for most of the local brand. strangely enough, Bia Hoi ( fresh beer), a type of draught beer is very popular and very cheap.

Bia hơi - Wikipedia

the cost of craft beer ranges from under $2 to $4. in the markets, its even cheaper. anywhere from .40 cent to $1.
