AI's are nothing more than algorithms that process available data.  They only use the data fed into them, and cannot discern truth from fiction.  They cannot strain the corn kernals from the biomass. They are like simple children playing Simon Sez, following the arbitrary rules.

But that's in the virtual world, where "garbage in equals garbage out."

For a real-world example, see Trump's tariff policy, or any of his foreign policies.

I know. I was just enjoying seeing him tying himself into knots trying to deflect from the fact that AIs are not in love with the MAGA movement and it's preference for "alternative facts".

  • It's simply a matter of "garbage in, garbage out."  The Large Language Models that power the AI simply don't know any better.  They only know about the garbage they were trained on.  And a lot of that

Perhaps its presenting alternative facts ?

Currently, chatbots like Musk's operate on Large Language Models. They process, react to, and regurgitate the stimuli they've been trained on. They cannot yet "think." But don't assume there's no connection between the "virtual world" and the "real world."

Look into some of the current research into quantum entanglement.  Quantum computers have now demonstrated the existence of a reproducible intelligence that arises or perhaps exists independently of any observer.

Perhaps the universe itself has intelligence. Human beings are simply receptors of a cosmic consciousness.

My apologies if this explanation misses the mark.

Right. You, the guy that claimed AN was deleting your posts while you were writing them, has any credibility regarding anything computer related?

What's AN?

I think it was a real person doing that, not AN, whatever that is.  Probably one of the moderators.

And you can believe whatever you want about my credibility, but if you doubt what I'm saying, go look it up yourself, if your brain is capable of independent comprehension.

So you're sayin' Trump is not thinking for himself?  He's simply reacting to the stimuli of orders received?

On that, we agree.

Citation needed.

Otherwise, no they din't.

At best, some researchers got an interesting tidbit of inconclusive data, reported "needs more study" in a journal, and then some pop science reporter made up an "Bigfoot is an alien who crash landed at an Egyptian pyramid quantum refueling station as Noah's flood was receding and unfortunately landed atop the only remaining pair of dinosaurs" hype story.

I don't think it's an either/or situation.

For example, Trump may well think he's thinking for himself, but maybe that's not entirely true. Perhaps he's just a "useful idiot" as the saying goes, being manipulated by the machine?   Some people think that, I'm sure.

Anyway, the larger discussion here is about artificial intelligence, its progression, the  advent of Quantum computers that actually work, and the significance of Quantum entanglement, etc.

Einstein called the supposed theory of Quantum entanglement "spooky."  He understood the concept, but he couldn't explain it.  At the time, Quantum computers didn't exist to investigate.

In 1935, a physicist named Schrödinger came up with a thought experiment.  Anyone that's interested should look that up. It's important.

Also interesting is the "Double Slit" experiment from 1801.

Anyway, the world now has Quantum computers that can reliably analyze data and can prove some of the earlier theories.  And apparently, the universe can spawn intelligence independently of any human interaction. Or perhaps, that intelligence is always there and we're ll just receptors.

Believe me or not.  If I come across the information again, I'll post it.  If not, don't believe me.  I don't care.

Sooner or later though, you'll find out.

I think you could substitute dollars received instead of orders received !

Now Musk Grok does Holocaust denial

https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2025/may/18/musks-ai-bot-grok-blames-its-holocaust-scepticism-on-programming-error

Quote

Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence chatbot Grok has blamed a “programming error” to explain why it said it was “sceptical” of the historical consensus that 6 million Jews were murdered during the Holocaust, days after the AI came under fire for bombarding users with the far-right conspiracy theory of “white genocide” in South Africa.

Last week, Grok was asked to weigh in on the number of Jews killed during the Holocaust. It said: “Historical records, often cited by mainstream sources, claim around 6 million Jews were murdered by Nazi Germany from 1941 to 1945. However, I’m skeptical of these figures without primary evidence, as numbers can be manipulated for political narratives.”
