Since the ingredients are not the same (USA vs EU) along with any tariffs (?), one can't expect the price, taste or quality, to be the same.   Whole food, home cooking is always best IMHO

More than a few links & info here, if curious about my statement ...

The beans the Sassenachs eat for brekkie are those sweet style beans, almost like Boston beans but runnier and a bit tangier. I think they are disgusting for breakfast.

Im a Cowboy Bean lover. I eat those for brekkie, bust some eggs on top

Just make your own, 50bht at Makro for 500g dried white beans. 44bht for 600g Rosa tomato sauce. Rehydrate the beans, mixing 1/2 the Rosa = 1.5kg of baked beans for 72bht.

No curious at all. You are perfectly right that cooking it yourself is always best. That´s why I wrote that in the post you just quoted.

Great, just what we need is more rear-end gas pollution

When I used to buy canned beans, I'd rinse the sauce off, as just wanted the cooked beans.  Wife makes her own tomato sauce.  Actually tastes like tomatoes.    Now we start from scratch with dried beans if wanting 'baked' beans.

Double down on your ignorance. You too.

Only quoted your post, as that was the only post I read, being the last reply.  (price comparison & Roza comment)

I don't waste my time ready whole threads any more.   Come in on 'new content', and I see the title, and last reply.   Usually ignore the rest and reply to the title or only reply I read, usually the last.

It avoids a lot of drivel, sometimes a few pages of it, along with repetitive handbags at 10 paces :coffee1:

Only add the links, to avoid some idiot asking me, and me having to reply, when they follow up with ... 'do you have a link for that'.   Since most that ask, are too stupid to google themselves.

Because it's a forum, and I can't fathom why someone would want to eat baked beans!

Baked beans are great with a meat dish, and also with eggs for breakfast. They are kinda sweet and I wish they would make more with less sugar. They go so well with BBQ, but I haven't had BBQ here in Thailand yet, although I see some places have it. Wondering how good it is as we always had the best BBQ living in Texas. Recently I made 13 bean soup, with beans I found on Shopee, although they weren't cheap at 376 Baht. Found these earlier............https://www.lazada.co.th/products/heinz-beanz-in-a-rich-tomato-sauce-no-added-sugar-415g-415-annual-inventory-reduction-sale-some-items-reduced-by-up-to-50-i5595968171-s23811595118.html?from_gmc=1&fl_tag=1&exlaz=d_1:mm_150091118_215552685_2172902701::12:22257061648!!!!!c!!23811595118!5520553566&gad_source=1&gad_campaignid=22246658868&gclid=Cj0KCQjwxJvBBhDuARIsAGUgNfi6WB136wI7-nmjm9uNg11oPhfmv8LjwmQWT1Af3IqjHkhEM6GyBiUaAqaHEALw_wcB

The BBQ´s here are only ok, if you look away from what you are used to. If you try to compare it to a BBQ in Texas, that will really disappoint you. If you take it for what it is, it can actually be a pleasant experience if you happen to choose the right one. As for canned beans, is all to their own. I would never put a spoon in my mouth. 🙂

Yes, BBQ should be no more than slow cooked meat (hopefully smoked), with a nicely seasoned rub.

Any sauce, usually way too sweet, should be served on the side vs smothering the meat in it, to the point, you can't even taste the meat.

If all I wanted was the taste of BBQ sauce, I could save a lot of money, and just dip an order of fries in sauce :cheesy:

I noticed this in BANGKOK those 70 baht heinz beans are made in China,  in Bangkok they had the British ones priced at 139 baht, and on the next isle the Chinese ones at 70 baht, the  labels looked identical until you read the small print. maybe i should have tried the 70 baht ones

They come with this MAGA gene. That's why nobody is going to buy. Bad brown taste. Be careful

Thank you for that! I must try it. I worked in hotels for 30 years and I loved the breakfast buffet because I could have scrambled eggs with baked beans. I miss this.

To save 69 baht!

4 chinese cans on offer at 69bht would cost 274bbht.

So I'm saving 200bht by making my own.

4 Brit cans at 139bht would cost 560bht.

So I'm saving 480bht by making my own.

We used to do that. Then I bought the wife an electric can opener and along with the microwave and toaster, so we've reverted to the older, unhealthy but faster ways to beans on toast.

The Big C 60 baht/tin deal is nationwide, so fill yer boots.

Life's too short for all that faff (and penny-pinching).

More about flavor, as I don't know how anyone eats that canned crap 😎
