Bangkok is huge compared to Pattaya, these things most probably would go unnoticed. I've lived in Pattaya for 18 years and feel safe walking around town day or night. Only seen minor incidents, unlike the small town where I lived in the UK which was like a war zone at weekends.

Not to minimize what sounds like a horrible experience (which sounds out of the ordinary) for you, I think crossing the road (assuming that's what you were doing) can be dangerous almost anywhere in Thailand.  When I see cars driving badly/dangerously in Pattaya, I more often than not, notice the license plate is from outside Chonburi and usually Bangkok.

This is hilarious! You talk like just another cool dude, that thinks it´s classy and hot to live in Pattaya, and think nobody that post it something wrong know anything and never been there because they are isolated in a small village somewhere. Are you serious?

First, How many years have you lived in Thailand? I have over 27 by now. That, my dear, tells the story of somebody who have lived in many places. I tried Pattaya for 2,5 years. I didn´t like it. Not even 15 years ago. I also moved to Bangsaen and lived there for a little bit over 1 year. It was better, but still not ok. So, you see, I have experience.

For about 10 years now, I live out in Isaan, in a small town. However, I frequently visit all from Bangkok, Hua Hin, Pattaya, Rayong, and a lot of islands that the whole family enjoy. That, makes me know how it is today as well and how it has turned out. So, you see, no bedsit anywhere, and not really in Nakon Nowhere as you like to call it. On top of that, lived there, done that, still travel a lot.

 

My reply was about people in general not specifically you. But as you made it personal I will engage.

Of course it's not right to engage in any criminal activity, the point is that it was happening years ago as well, but nowadays we know about it because of social media.

Most people post about Pattaya with limited or no personal experience. I don't suggest anything other than it's a great place to live. I am not talking about the inner city but the whole area Pattaya encompasses.

My original post if you had read it properly stated I have lived here 12 years. Obviously you prefer not to live here but with your limited recent knowledge does not give you the right to make trash comments like "Pattaya is a crime ridden, foreign infested hellhole! 

Finally like I said, people who live in Nackon Nowhere which translates to "A small town in Issan"

You are obviously an older person like myself, but someone stuck in the past, unlike me who is able to adapt and change with the times.

Meh, nothingburger. As another member pointed out, the chances of a normal well adjusted human being being the victim of violence in Pattaya is near nil. Add some basic street smarts and situational awareness and it's really nil.

Probably more for the many expats living there who are now hearing or reading maybe even seeing about the  problems. Drugs fighting in bars and so on

When Thailand legalised weed shops it became a magnet to the world's undesirables. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with smoking a joint. It's about the impression it gives the outside world. 

There will be more drugs and fighting stories, because more druggies and trouble makers are now choosing Thailand.
