English Secondary School

Featured Replies

Hi All what secondary English schools are there in Sakhon Nakon area? I hope to be relocating to Sakhon Nakhon area and looking at getting my son in scondary school. Are there any facilities for some English in the local schools, as he would need to learn Thai. Any knowledge would be appreciated cheers

I moved back to Thailand in 2012 to put my son into a school in Ubon to get him to learn thai.  First of all the local government school here in our town said, No problem, we will put him into year 1.  Now a 10 year old in year 1 was not going to work for me.  We ended up putting him into a private school in Ubon city which prided itself that their syllabus was 50% thai and 50% english.  His thai did improve but his english skills dramatically went downhill.

The school then entered my son into inter-school english competitions that he scored highly in and then boasted around that this was a product of the school.  All the english teachers at the school were themselves English as Second Language speakers and their standards were very poor.

Long story short, the worst thing I ever did was bring him back to learn thai.  We moved back to Australia where he completed his high school and university and is booming now in his chosen career.

Sorry, I didn't answer your question about school in Sakhon Nakon but I wanted to tell of my experience
