As far as SS is concerned, not trying to pass any funding reform measures means it WILL be massively cut automatically for all in as early as 5 years. So why isn't such reform in Trump's big ugly help the billionaires bill? Because he's happy to see SS trashed over time. 

I have yet to see any conservative movement anywhere in the world that does not try to tear down public health systems by stealth. It's in their DNA.

 

When they try it in Australia, they get a bloody nose from voters. In the new world of Trumponomics, it was more like they got hit by a truck.

He already mentions an interesting point. 

Why did Russia invade Ukraine to begin with? Because Putin knew the US would do nothing about it.

 

Then mentions Trump isn't the first president to start "wrecking" the system that the US has built since WW2.

This guy is Peter Hartcher, political editor and international editor of The Sydney Morning Herald and The Age.

 

He is just a journalist, not an economist. Lots of people have said similar abut the end of general American domination for years now.
