A violent altercation broke out between staff from two rival Indian restaurants in Phaya Thai district, Bangkok, over claims of poaching customers. The brawl, which took place in Soi Saeng Kanchana at around 19:30 on 29 May, left at least two people injured and both businesses damaged.

 

Footage captured during the incident shows two groups engaging in a heated physical confrontation. Chairs were used as weapons, and fists flew as chaos erupted between the rival teams. The restaurants involved are located next to each other and had reportedly clashed multiple times in the past over customer competition.

 

One of the injured was a 65-year-old woman, the mother of one restaurant owner, who was seated at the scene when the violence broke out. She sustained bruises on her body and had shards of glass embedded in her head. Bloodstained kitchen cleavers were later found on a table used for welcoming guests.

 

Authorities arriving at the scene discovered property damage at both restaurants. Glass windows were shattered, furniture had been overturned and bloodstains were visible on the floors. Inside the restaurants, evidence of looting and smashed items suggested the violence had quickly escalated out of control.

 

Eyewitnesses stated that the confrontation began when representatives from both sides appeared to be negotiating a longstanding dispute. However, tempers flared and the conversation quickly turned violent. Witnesses also claimed this was not the first such incident, citing past fights that had resulted in head injuries, slashed arms and even severed fingers.

 

Police at Phaya Thai station confirmed that some of those involved have come forward to file complaints. However, no charges have yet been filed as investigators are still reviewing CCTV footage and collecting evidence to determine who instigated the latest clash.

 

The incident underscores ongoing tensions between the two businesses, whose rivalry over attracting customers has repeatedly turned physical. Police say further legal action will depend on the results of the ongoing investigation.

To me it looks quite clear, that it is 4 people, if the other restaurant didn´t do something before that. But, probably going to take 2-3 more days for the Thai plod to understand what they see.
