Talk about flying the flag for foreigners. Never again.

context.   It was me.  I was yelling because my 90-year-old grandfather, hard of hearing, was in a life-and-death situation.  My yelling saved his life.   When I looked around, all I saw were farangs in wife-beater shirts drinking beer and looking at their tattoos.  

 

It's like when I saw a crowd running.  soooo rude.  Tsanami.   Oh.   Or screaming.   Bomb.  Oh.    Everyone assumes it's terrible because it isn't good for them.   Like loud music and scaring away ghosts.   You should thanks everyone for the karaoke machines.   life savers.

I once took the train from Bangkok to Chiang Mai just for the experience. The trip was enjoyable, but I would not do it again.

I and the others just sat there, annoyed but not wanting to initiate what would almost certainly be a fruitless confrontation but the Thai cook/owner surprised us all as he emerged from the kitchen, pointed to the door and told them to pay and get out!  They were as shocked as the rest of us were!  Actually said: "Sorry, sorry." as they paid up and left.  

We applauded.

 

In America we have those techno d*cks that walk around with their earphones talking loud and sharing their conversation. I think people that behave like that do not have anyone to listen to their crap so they need to go outside and find an audience.

I travelled 1000s of km in India on trains all 3rd class/non-reserved. Long time ago when backpackers were actually backpackers not spoilt brats. Very tough going but fantastic. One journey there were actually people camped in the toilet. Bags and all. When ever anyone had to go the people in there would get out, wait till your finished, and head back in. Met some fantastic people in my 6 months travelling India. It's the same here. Most people are great especially those who are struggling. Every now and again tensions get frayed and it's usually because some arshole has no regard for others.

i would agree on this point. Seems Land of Smiles is fading on their image. It must be the happiness given by their Thaksin family leadership making everyone so happy they act this way. Thailand seems to be regressing in their lives. I rarely see any Thai smile unless I am handing them money for something. Go look anywhere crowded, and you may see one in 100 with a smile on their face and most likely it will be because they are looking at something funny on their phone.

I took this train before from Chiang Mai to Bkk years ago. It was horrid, hot, uncomfortable and unclean. Never again. It is easy to see why someone would get bent so easily at something so simple as a noise complaint. But Thais seem to lose their rockers more easily lately as well. They go ballistic over the simplest things and do it very quickly.
