My wife wanted me to sign a document any money she gets is hers!

Did she find another way to get your money?

So my wife thinks she's coming into a few million Baht (almost no chance).

And wanted me to sign a document stating any money she gets is hers, and I have no claim on it.

I say, "sure, no problem", and she brings over a notepad for me to write out the agreement.

I write "any money you get and half belongs to me" she tells me to sign and date it to make it official.

She asks me to read out what I wrote, and I read out "any money you get belongs entirely to you"

She walks off happily clutching the document to keep somewhere safe .........

You can't fix stupid!

From the wording, maybe I am as confused as your wife is.  Am I reading correctly that whatever money she gets (let me assume that could mean, she knows someone is going to give her money and you will have no claim on it! But did she mean something else??

And what would you do if she gets millions? Claim half of it?

My agreement with my wife, everything in her name in Thailand is hers, and everything outside Thailand is mine.

At least the cars and motorbikes is in my name.

Thai True Love.    Tombstone of the poisoned farang:  ATM Lays Empty, and forgotten.

My first Thai wife saw my leg getting stomped by a herd of elephants and then I was poised by a snake and attacked by some soi dogs.  The hospital wanted 20 baht, and I couldn't speak to tell her my ATM number.   She left me there for 28 years debating if she should pay.  She never did.

First, you have stayed together quite long out of what I have read before. So, you mean she can´t read or understand basic English? Seems very far fetched to me.

After that, you say that you can´t fix stupid. Isn´t it really stupid of you to take advantage of, and fool her? A stand up guy, would just not sign if not want to, so please don´t start talk about stupid!

1. I do not think you two are "legally"  married (done at Amphur)

2. I assume the land is in her name on a land title ?

3. Even if married..... thai law is specific in that any assets previous to marriage belong

100%  to the individual   ( any acquired later are joint property )

most thais can at least know this much .   maybe yours is "special ? "

100% correct. Most of us foreigners knows that too.

Since she has it already, and still with me, it must be LOVE ❤️

People with dogs think their dogs love them. Stop feeding them for a week or two and see if the attitude changes.

Not really! If you can´t sell it, it´s not worth the price asked.

yeah but that's what rational people think and therein lies the problem.

Never misses the opportunity to throw in some reference to your assets .   Never.  :coffee1:

Does add meaning to the reply.  On a retirement visit, not using an agent.  No real surprises, as I post about house & BEV, when queries are posted.  Far from rich, and simply enough.  Who doesn't make sure the wife & kid have a secure future when you're gone.  Not that either need me now.

Anyone, my or our age, that don't have some assets, then you made some really bad choices in life.  If I threw in I retired at 45, then that would be tootin' my own horn.

70 yrs old, don't own house (if wanting) or vehicle (no payments, if wanting), and living month to month.  How does that even happen ?   Especially if coming from one of those universal healthcare countries.

A house, car & oops fund ... that shouldn't impress anyone   :coffee1:

HEY ... my dog loves me, even after she eats.   Follows me around all day, and laying next to me now.

And I'm sure she knows, if the would came to end, no food in house, and it was just me, the wife & dog, we'd be eating the wife to survive :cheesy:  And not in a good way .... for her.

Either can leave or kick me out, anytime they want ... and yet :coffee1:
