Stainless Steel gutters

Featured Replies

I'm in the market for new gutters, and since I have about 100 meter of gutters, price is a factor.

The cheapest galvanized i can find is 360 baht, and add 50 baht if I want them to be painted.

Then I found a supplier with SS 304 for 600 baht a meter. I know SS can't be painted, but they are better quality of course

Previously I always heard prices of SS at 1000 baht up, so these seem very cheap, also compared to the galvanized ones.

They come in 6 meter lengths directly from the factory, and am told there is Thai quality and Chinese quality, with the latter one being of lower quality.

So what do I have to look out for, so I don't get fooled?

How many years the galvanized gutters last?

They were installed 14 years ago, but started leaking at the joints after about 4 years

I'm also interested and would like to give this a bump.

If anyone can guestimate cost of nice aluminum awning as well.

About 17.5M in 2 pcs

 Sorry to hijack.

Plastic gutters are commonly used also and I understand they have a goodly life expectancy.

I wish I'd fitted them around my house instead of galv.

I considered Upvc gutters but it's hard to find an installer, and if you find one they are more expensive than SS.

They are available cheap at DoHome, but the point is to find a competent installer, and from the reviews I read, they are scarcer than hens teeth.

There are no specialised installers for Plastic/UPVC gutters. Just the normal installers who do Galv and SS.

But in my experience SS lasts the longest, and Galv is fine for normal use. Yes can paint Galv, but not necessary to paint SS.

Plastic/UPVc does get soft and buckles after a few years (from own experience).

I think you are local to Pattaya?

Whatever you decide on can you please post details of your installer if you believe they were competent. Thanks.

Took a while but gutters are finally in the process of being installed.

Work looks good, and installer obviously knows what he's doing. The shop is located on Soi siam country club, right opposite Siam Sauna.

Please note there are 2 shops almost next to each other, it's the one closest to the railway road. The other also looks decent, but a bit pricier.

There is also a large shop about halfway between the railway road and the installer I use, on the right side of the road coming from the railway, which should be avoided by all means.

I had engaged them before to do the job, since their rhetoric was great, but in practice they were horrible, and I call them the destroyers.

They had to remove the old gutters first, and instead of using a step to remove them and unscrew the brackets, the guy ran over the roof, and pulled the brackets off without even considering taking remove the screws first. The result was of course large holes in the Shera planks, and broken roof tiles.

Next they started to mount the new brackets, but didn't have the right tools, so they were really struggling and the brackets didn't hold.

The gutters they brought in were full of dents, and not the material they had shown me in the shop. I suspect it was China sourced stuff.

On the second day I had enough of them and told them to leave, though I had paid 40K deposit, which I got back right on the spot after I made them an offer they couldn't refuse.

Some of their brackets came off by the wind a few weeks after I kicked them out.

The installer who is doing the job now, hasn't set a foot on the roof yet, and he has all the right tools. Brackets are fitted rock solid, and gutters are all 6 meter lengths as agreed.

I paid 600 baht per meter for 6" stainless 304, and 350 baht per meter for the 3.5" downpipes in the same material.

So far they have been on the job for 4 days, and I watch them like a hawk 🙂, and so far I can't say anything negative about the work performed.

Very nice people also, laughing all the time.
