California in Uproar as Newsom Condemns Trump’s Troop Deployment as ‘Deranged Fantasy’

What's the big difference?

The legal term is illegal alien. The left started calling them undocumented aliens, and then undocumented workers, and now they just them migrants.

But they are still illegal aliens, just like an abortion is still an abortion when you call it “reproductive rights” .

Talking a boy into cutting off his penis and playing dress-up is not child abuse, it’s “gender affirming care “

It is amusing that this is what passes for journalism on the left now.

No, it’s brown boys burning Jews, not books that are being deported.

Please quote the full information;

Smith said the Marines have received “in excess of two hours” of training on the use of less than lethal force in cities, or crowd control, and that they would have shields and batons as their equipment.

He could not say how much in excess of 2 hours.  In contrast, as of  2007, all LAPD personnel receive a basic 10 hours in crowd control. It doesn't matter whether they work traffic or homicide, all personnel are required to take the training. This is before the training given to the specialized units. This basic  training requirement  was implemented after the MacCarthur Park mess, when the LAPD contained an immigration enforcement protest through an over use of  force.   There is additional training for crowd control with time designated for specialty. There is a mandatory  6.5-hour course on deploying 40mm rounds for crowd control, plus an additional 4-hour training for supervisors. An additional six hours are dedicated to “the application of less-lethal force.” Every two years, officers take eight hours of training as a refresher.   There is a 24 hour  continuing education requirement to be completed every 2 years. Within that requirement are refresher courses on perishable skills that include;  Arrest & Control - 4 hour minimum,  Use of Force - 4 hour minimum.

The takeaway is that the police tactical response unit members tasked with  crowd control intervention have  30+ hours of training to begin with and then an additional 10-20 hours every 2 years plus practical experience of dealing with civilians every day. This is in sharp contrast to the USMC personnel who have been given 2 hours of training and some batons. That is not appropriate, nor fair to the  marines. That is not what they volunteered for.

And as a reminder; The Marines  will not have arrest authority. Under the Posse Comitatus Act, U.S. service members are barred from policing citizens on American soil. The Marines cannot be used against the protestors, otherwise there will be a constitutional and legal crisis that will not end well for the Federal government.

There is little point in deploying military personnel under the  present circumstances other than to make a political statement.

Let the police respond first. If they cannot do the job, then there are legal grounds to intervene.

So just let it burn out?

Do they offer dental and a 401K?

And do I get a bonus if I can get the cops to shoot me in the leg with a rubber bullet on international TV?

No dental or 401K.  It isn't a full time normal job.  If I call him back I will try to remember your question and ask about the rubber bullet and international TV thing.   They will take care of you emergency medical bill if you have to go to the hospital and will pay your bond if you are arrested.

They seem most concerned that you check in with the person in charge when you arrive to work, then check out with the person in charge when you leave.

They are also concerned that if there are to be any chants of slogans, that you learn them correctly.   If any signs are to be carried you have to pick one up.

I wouldn't take serious a rebrand Rasmussen poll which have often been questioned for its methodology.

A plurality of Americans don't approve of the Trump administration's deployment of the National Guard and Marines in response to Los Angeles protests, the latest YouGov polling shows.

Indeed. The people you believe told you that the rioters were not illegal, they were undocumented.

You said the marines are not trained in crowd control. This means zero training. Admit your comment was wrong.

2 hours is not  sufficient time for crowd control training. There is a reason why the LAPD provides 30 hours basic  + 10-20 hours continuing training to its  intervention personnel on top of  the basic training. The  police academy  program is 26  weeks. The USMC basic training is 13 weeks. The reason there is a different  time spent on training is because the police have a different  responsibility,   Please do not offer that 2 hours is adequate or even meets the  basic requirement for  crowd control, because anyone with common sense will know that it isn't.

Undocumented workers are processed at the border check points. Illegals are those who bypassed (eg sneaked in) the border check points and not processed. Undocumented have basic rights and due process. Not Illegals and when caught are deported without the need for due process.

Ok, if they are processed at the border check points, doesn't that make them asylum seekers? Don't they get a court date, which would make them documented until they skip their court date or they are ruled ineligible then become illegals?

Screw you Boomers who lived it up in Cali in the 60s-80s with your straight outta highschool for life careers that paid the mortgage at the beach.

The criminal activity you refer to occurred in one district  was not associated with a federal building, nor did it interfere with ICE activity, since there was no ICE operation at the time of the protest.

There was no open border. Thousands were being arrested and deported every week.

California is amazing for those who bought in back in the '70s and '80s when property was affordable.  When I got there in '95, several of my coworkers were living in nice homes they bought for $75-100K, that were worth over $350K just a few years later.

Edit:  Huntington Beach, BTW.  Loved it there.  Just couldn't afford to stay.

I shouldn't even read threads about California. Every once in a while, I think about saying WTF and moving back there. I know better, but I also know I could make it happen. Just the other day, I was thinking about doing just that, as my lease here is about up and I'm in the mood for something different.  Anyway, that's one of my problems, I guess. I get an idea in my head and then I just do it. There's no turning back.

On the other hand, as nice as it can be, it's still now a state run by insane people.  And that probably won't change anytime soon. Maybe I could just ignore it all?

As for Huntington Beach?  Nice place, as is all those beach cities. Remember Melanie's apartment in the opening scenes of the movie Jackie Brown?  That wasn't actually filmed in Huntington Beach, but the idea is the same. A nice place at the beach. There are nice beach cities all up and down the coast.

During times of civil unrest in particular insurrection, the posse comitatus act can be suspended by the president. As things are now with the military it's just a Mexican standoff. So I predict that Trump and team are going to go the insurectionest route . Pretty sure it's in the works.IMG_20250611_114520.jpg.01e13f447b6d24462ba34039270cd371.jpg

Kimmel can lie and say whatever he likes, and when you call him out, the left say he’s a comedian.

At the same time, the left says he’s “reporting”

And if you call him out for what he says, the left will again call him a comedian.

It's fascinating that for the same group of guys who are complaining about these protests, January 6th was perfectly acceptable to them. Beating up and killing cops was fine, destroying government property was fine, but these protests are bad.

January 6th was triggered by a an insane president who was unwilling to accept the fact that he had gotten beaten pretty badly, these protests were triggered by children and legal immigrants being kidnapped off the streets by federal agents.

It's such a blinkered approach to real events on the ground, and it is an incredibly sad thing to witness.

Lefties lapped up everything the MSM put in front of them.  And they're still regurgitating it.

The only fatalities on Jan6 were 2 protesters.  One beaten to death and the other one shot.  Both by cops.  Who weren't prosecuted.

That was after Trump encouraged voters to peacefully and patriotically march over and be heard.  To protest election irregularities pointed out by Ken Paxton and supported with amicus briefs by 17 other states and over 150 congressmen.

Seems like someone might be having a 'deranged-fantasy’.......

US official tells Fox: the 700 Marines ordered to help in LA have not yet arrived to help control the riots. The Marines will remain at Seal Beach south of Los Angeles and will be undergoing training for a few more days, despite Defense Secretary Hegseth telling lawmakers today that the Marines were trained and ready.

"The Marine unit is an infantry unit and needs to learn protocols for use of force in a domestic setting," a U.S. defense official tells Fox News.

Earlier this morning Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said all the military units on the ground have been fully trained for what will likely be domestic riot control.

HEGSETH to House Defense Appropriations Committee: “As far as training all of the units on the ground have been fully trained in their capabilities of what they're executing on the ground.

False. Jan. 6th was far worse than what is happening in LA.

U.S. Capitol Police announced late Thursday that an officer hurt during this week's violent assault on the chambers of Congress by protesters loyal to President Trump has died from his injuries.

"At approximately 9:30 p.m. this evening (January 7, 2021), United States Capitol Police Officer Brian D. Sicknick passed away due to injuries sustained while on-duty," a statement from the U.S. Capitol Police said.

"Officer Sicknick was responding to the riots on Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at the U.S. Capitol and was injured while physically engaging with protesters. He returned to his division office and collapsed."

https://www.npr.org/sections/insurrection-at-the-capitol/2021/01/07/954333542/police-confirm-death-of-officer-injured-during-attack-on-capitol

Trump’s news conferences, public speeches, and social-media communications in the weeks leading up to the January 6 attack have frequently been characterized as “stochastic terrorism,” understood as the repeated use of vilifying rhetoric by a public figure that inspires acts of violence against a targeted person, group, or community.

According to a Justice Department report released in July 2021, approximately 140 Capitol and Metropolitan police officers were criminally assaulted by the rioters in the January 6 attack. Among those victims, one died of a series of strokes after being hospitalized for injuries sustained in the attack, and two others committed suicide. One of the rioters was shot and killed by police, another died of a heart attack, and a third was apparently crushed to death by the stampeding mob. The rioters caused an estimated $1.5 million in damage to the Capitol building.

Newsom is not stupid. He’ll stand up there and virtue signal and pretend to care and whatnot, and he’ll call for Homan to come an arrest him, but do not think for a moment that that wussie is going to interfere directly with ICE or do ANYTHING that Homan could arrest him for.
