I do not believe that the Marines , with the exception of NCOs or officers would have lethal ammunition. They are  reportedly being used to guard the ICE detention center. Those centers are being guarded by LASD, and federal law enforcement, not LAPD, so it won't really help the LAPD deal with the city center, which has already been pacified with the curfew and the rapid intervention units. My point is that combat soldiers are not trained for  civilian policing. It is a different methodology and mindset to combat. The soldiers are not being used for civilian relief, but suppression activity, and that is not what they are trained  for, nor what they enlisted to do.  The civilian authorities are capable of managing the situation.This is what a police force is supposed to do.
