Accident Drama as Bung Fai Rocket Crashes Through Classroom Ceiling in Yasothon

A dramatic incident unfolded on the afternoon if 11 June, when a traditional rocket (bung fai) crashed through the ceiling of a classroom at Ban Khui Tub Tao School in Khum Ngern sub-district, Mueang District, Yasothon Province.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 15:00. According to local reports, the rocket penetrated the classroom ceiling and embedded itself into the floor, narrowly missing both teachers and students who were present during a lesson.

 

Initial investigations suggest the rocket may have originated from a launch site in Don Phra Chan village, Phanom Phrai sub-district, Phanom Phrai District in neighbouring Roi Et Province.

The school has since recorded photographic evidence of the incident and authorities are now working to trace the source of the rogue rocket and ensure appropriate measures are taken.

 

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. However, the event has raised fresh concerns about the safety and regulation of traditional rocket festivals in northeastern Thailand, especially in proximity to populated areas such as schools.

 

Authorities are urging those responsible for future launches to exercise extreme caution and adhere strictly to safety protocols.

That would be one hell of a bung fai rocket to hit Cambodia and would certainly have won 1st prize.

We have a launch pad about 2km from home. I saw one come down yesterday just across the road. It floated down something like a thin leaf on its side definitely not like an arrow.

All perfectly normal for traditional rocket's to kill the odd teacher or kid from time to time 🤔
