Fire Fire Breaks Out at Pattaya Sauna
Picture courtesy of Amarin A fire broke out at approximately 15:00, on 14 June, at a sauna located at the end of Soi 5, near Yinyom Beach in Jomtien, Chonburi province. Thick black smoke and flames were seen billowing from the premises. Initial reports indicate the fire ignited inside the sauna complex while it was operating at full capacity. Witnesses described the scene, with tourists, both Thai and foreign, hurrying to escape the blaze. Some brave individuals attempted to contain the flames using fire extinguishers and buckets of water, while others smashed windows to allow the smoke to dissipate. One local resident, 44-year-old Mr Montri, who witnessed the incident, recounted:“I saw heavy smoke pouring from the building and rushed over. The fire spread too quickly for us to do anything meaningful to stop it.” Pattaya fire crews responded swiftly, deploying several fire engines and several emergency personnel. It reportedly took over 45 minutes to bring the flames under control. There have been no official reports of injuries. Perhaps. I was new to Thailand at the time and although it was mostly good experiences I encountered just a little bit too much of the "you pay, you pay, you farang you have money big" attitude. It sticks in the craw. At the time the Pacific Peso was only buying 22 baht so 1k was a lot of money. I was paying 80 baht per night for a hovel on Soi Rambuttri and large beer Changs (original recipe) were only 40 baht so it seemed like a king's ransom to me at the time. Anyway their loss, I went to Nana Plaza and eked out my meagre budget in the go-gos then took the bus back home for 3.50 baht 😂 -

Greta Thunberg and the Cult of the Omnicause: When Activism Becomes Performance
xxx Did you read the first paragraph of the OP, or even take notice of the title? I'm not moving any goalposts; it's Greta who has moved the goalposts herself, from climate change to the war against Hamas in Gaza. Her boat trip on the selfie yacht was definitely about Israel and the Jews, although she claimed it was a humanitarian mission to aid Palestinians. It seems Greta's concern over global warming has, uhh, cooled, and she's found a new hot issue in Israel's fight against terrorists who seek to destroy the homeland of the world's Jews. Unfortunately, she has been influenced by hardcore Hamas supporters and some of their hatred of Jews and the Jewish homeland has rubbed off on her. Given that Greta has acknowledged she suffers autism and bipolar disorder, I imagine she does indeed hate the blahs, but her doctor has probably prescribed Sertraline (Zoloft) to help with that. If she hates Mexicans or Muslims (and there's no reason to believe she does; I haven't heard her chant "Crush zapatismo" or "Crush Islamism"), then it would be a problem for Mexicans and Muslims, not me. Her hatred of Jews is a problem for me because antisemitism inevitably turns violent against Jewish people. The worst development possible is for antisemitism to become normalized. -
