From my link, 2024

"California continues to grapple with significant levels of poverty, leading the nation as the state with the highest poverty rate with disproportionately higher impacts on Black and Latino residents.

According to the latest available Census data, the state’s poverty rate increased to 18.9% in 2023, up from 16.4% in 2022 and 11.0% in 2021. The state’s poverty rate was particularly high among Black and Latino Californians and higher than the 2019 pre-pandemic numbers."

both links point to articles that claim to use the Census data but somehow arrive at much different figures.  I trust the US Census Bureau above all others.

In any event, per your link, California, the bluest, richest state in the county has one of the highest poverty rates in the country, Higher than any other blue state, and most all read states.

The 250th Anniversary of the US Army is not a frivolous event.

No, but the expense of putting the parade on is.  The money could be used in a much better way.  How many trillion is the US in debt?

You do know that Social Security is not funded by the US Federal budget, right?  It is 100% funded by employment taxes which are collected by the US government but then set aside in the Social Security trust funds for expenditure solely by SSA.  No other federal revenue flows to the Social Security system.

It’s a federal tax.

what would you expect from a federal law?

In actuality the FICA 'tax' is more akin to a forced contribution to an inflation adjusted lifetime annuity.  Your FICA 'tax' is not spent outside of SSA benefits.

How many military parades/birthday parades have the Democrats held?

How many times have the Democrats been in power for the 250th Anniversary of the US Army?

So why does the richest, bluest state in county have such a high poverty rate at 18.9%?

Because it is in USA, not Scandinavia....

"I have to go through hell to get stuff approved......"

That's not what kings do. e.g. Does Prince Charles do that? NO. And there's many more examples.

"I have to go through hell to get stuff approved......" is dictator talk.

I don't know, perhaps you can tell me, who funds the 'Pride' parades, and who funds Trumps birthday parade......?   🤔

Dollars to donut holes it's NGOs getting their money from the gub'ment.

So basically, the taxpayers...

But in the case of the Military parades, it's out in the open.  Transparent.  In the Pride parades, it's covert.

Dubbed “No Kings,” the protest is expected to be the largest single-day mobilization against Trump since the beginning of his second term. Organizers say the event will span more than 1,900 gatherings across nearly 1,800 cities in all 50 U.S. states and territories, with additional international rallies planned in countries like Colombia, Malawi, Italy, Portugal, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Wait for State visit II then. It’ll be mayhem!

What a douche of Starmer putting Charlie on the spot like that.
