Its so great in LA that there was a partial curfew imposed.

Ya nothing to see here its roses folks

Your linked report above is from last Wednesday, and the imposed overnight curfew only applies to the Civic Center area of downtown L.A. -- not to the rest of the very large city of Los Angeles.

And, if you think things are so bad with the ICE protests, how about, not bad enough to prevent scheduled downtown opera and theater performances of "Hamlet" and "Rigoletto."  Wow, the wheels really must be coming off if theater and opera performances downtown must go on!!!

Downtown L.A. curfew update: exemptions for L.A. Opera, Mark Taper Forum and restaurants

Updated June 13, 2025

"Los Angeles city officials on Thursday carved out a curfew exemption for ticket holders of indoor events and performing arts venues downtown including the Music Center, paving the way for evening performances of Center Theatre Group’s “Hamlet” and Los Angeles Opera’s “Rigoletto.”

...

“At this time, Center Theatre Group, the Music Center, and the surrounding streets have not been directly impacted by protest or law enforcement activity. Our staff and artists are already on site, and we look forward to seeing you,” CTG wrote in a statement Thursday."

The bigger issue, the Los Angeles Times reported, are planned nationwide protests this weekend, including in downtown Los Angeles, against Trump's Washington DC birthday parade involving the U.S. Armed Forces.

"Major protests are planned nationwide for Saturday, when Trump’s 79th birthday coincides with the massive 250th anniversary military parade he is throwing in Washington, D.C., at a reported cost of $45 million. One of the so-called “No Kings” protests is scheduled to take place 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of City Hall."

Does it matter when the curfew happened  or will happen? Setting a curfew regardless of size doesnt happen for shhhts and giggles.Nice deflection.

Anyone calling what is happening in LA as protests is delusional or disingenuous. Then you fo on to talk about a carved out exclusion.  Of course there are areas unaffected as you astutly pointed out. Its a very big city.

Hahahahah you should stick to your covid obsession.

I’ve been at the protests in Los Angeles this week, and I have news for you: The city is not facing an “insurrection.” In the vast expanse that is Los Angeles County, the rallies barely register as a blip. The protests are confined to a very small area of downtown. The protesters I spoke to weren’t anarchists bent on burning down the system. They were mostly young people — first- or second-generation U.S. citizens — protesting the persecution their immigrant parents are enduring. They are certainly not “insurrectionist migrant mobs.”

And for the most part, yes, the protests have been peaceful. There have been isolated — and reprehensible — incidents of looting and vandalism, but nothing near the scale of past riots in Los Angeles. The notion that the situation is under control thanks to the National Guard is simply false. The LAPD has been managing the response very well.

Los Angeles isn’t a “ruptured, balkanized society of strangers.” It is not “occupied territory.” It certainly isn’t experiencing the consequences of an “invasion.” What Los Angeles, this vibrant, pluralistic city where dozens of languages and nationalities coexist, is experiencing is an attack on its most essential social fabric — a concerted campaign of terror. Since last Friday, when Immigration and Customs Enforcement began its operations, the immigrant community in the city that best embodies the immigrant experience in the United States has been paralyzed.

One example.  We’ve seen enough of the firestorm and brick throwing.

And now Democrat Senators are getting in on the action.

What is it about “you can’t enter” that is so hard to understand.

Los Angeles covers an area of approximately 469 square miles. The larger Los Angeles County spans about 4,000 square miles.

LA City is about the same size as the Heard and McDonald's Islands, 412 square miles, big enough to be included in the original Trumper tariff tantrum list.  Or as big as Palau, 459 square miles, where a Chinese influencer on vacation famously dined on bat soup.

LA County is the approximate size of Cape Verde or Transnistria or Freedom Polynesia.

This makes burning and looting acceptable?

Kind of like Newsom carving out Covid exemptions for his favorite restaurants and carving out minimum wage exclusions for restaurants he's invested in?

Rules for thee, but not for me...

NYC is also huge and has thousands of buildings.  We'd hardly notice 3 of them falling down, eh?

The above op-ed is responding to a flood of misinformation and misleading reports about what's actually been occurring in Los Angeles.  Some examples follow below, courtesy of fact-checking service NewsGuard:

Special Edition: The Unrest in Los Angeles

1. Newsom Did Not Misrepresent National Guard Images; 2. Outdated Photos of Bricks Falsely Cited as Evidence of Premeditated Violence; 3. Spoof Craigslist Ad Offers Payment for Protesters

"Today’s special edition of Realty Check unpacks the misinformation frenzy sparked by the unrest in Los Angeles, including: how malign foreign actors are exploiting the unrest; a false claim that California Gov. Newsom posted old or AI-generated photos to reveal poor conditions facing National Guard troops; how out-of-context images are being used to claim that pallets of bricks were placed around the protests to be used for violence; and how a prank Craigslist ad was cited as proof that protesters are being handsomely paid.

Here's a puzzler...

Why are the guys in the OP photo carrying Mexican flags while they're protesting getting sent to Mexico?

They could be there in less than 2 hours...

Proudly Mexican!

Don't send me there!!!

Best are the ones claiming California belongs to Mexico lol. Not seen that rubbish here YET

Best stay out of the conversation if you can't understand journalism "in context".  People who get caught up in the hyperbole are easily identified and lose credibility quick to those of us who know better.

How many of the punters commenting on this and supporting the ICE raids in LA have ACTUALLY LIVED THERE?

Well I have (for 5 years) and one of magnificent features of LA is it's wide diversity of cultures from all over the world INCLUDING THAI TOWN. Which has a rich Thai population.

I'd wager most of the punters that favor these raids do so only because the like the idea of those "lefties" and illegals getting the punishment and knocking around the unthinking and cruel of you  think they deserve.

The inhumanity of such attitudes is sickening.

Get the illegals out.   just like we all laugh and laugh when an overstayer gets booted.   Good riddance, we don't care how much they or their family suffer.  We want them out. Same with America.   In illegally, out.   If you can prove you are anywhere legally, then I wish you well.  Yes, some innocent suffer.  That's sad.  Life isn't perfect.  These raids are decades coming.   If Trump deports Thais, we are doomed here.     We all know that's not a 0% possibility.
