Crime Fake Russian Doctor Arrested in Phuket for Illegal Medical Practice

A 33-year-old Russian woman has been arrested by tourist police in Phuket for posing as a medical professional and offering unauthorised treatments to unsuspecting clients.

 

The suspect, identified only as Viktoria, was detained in a rented apartment while attempting to administer an injection to what she believed was a genuine client. In reality, the “client” was an undercover officer who had arranged the appointment as part of a sting operation. Viktoria had agreed to provide the unspecified treatment for 6,000 baht.

 

Police seized 47 medical items from the premises, including syringes and various pharmaceutical products. During questioning, Viktoria admitted that she had no formal medical qualifications and was neither licensed to practise medicine nor authorised to distribute or import medication in Thailand.

She claimed she had been acting at the request of her Russian friend, Marina, who helped her find clients through an online social media page. The pair allegedly promoted their services on the internet, offering injections to treat a range of unspecified health issues.

 

Authorities have charged Viktoria with illegal medical practice, unauthorised distribution and importation of pharmaceutical products and working in Thailand without a permit.

 

Tourist police have reiterated the importance of verifying the credentials of anyone offering medical services, warning that illegal practitioners pose a serious risk to public health. 

 

Investigations into Marina’s involvement are ongoing.

begs to ask what she was actually injecting you with. Surely she could not have gotten real medicine like antibiotics or other types of real medicine. If she did then the police need to make arrests to the sellers of such items.

While many practicing legal doctors continue to kill thousands every year by over prescribing. This isn't to say what she did was okay. Problem is, the police can't arrest legal doctors prescribing medicines that kill patients all the time.

People who are very ill may need to take multiple medications. These often start to conflict with each other and cause problems. But without any medications at all, the patient may have died anyway. 

The point is that pills can only do so much.

Yes, medications are sometimes necessary, but doctors aren't efficient in using other methods along with the correct medicines. They give people one thing, and then add more, and many medicines, besides taking a toll already, cannot be taken with others in many instances, as the body can't take that much. My ex wife was given Fentanyl for pain. Then they also gave her Morphine, Dilaudid or Vicodin for "breakthrough" pain. She dies two years ago from a heart attack. her body was weakened by so many meds over too  many years.

No, I agree that medicines are necessary, at least until they can figure out better ways. The problem lies in doctors and Pharma, who aren't as caring as they should be, and do what they think is right, and meds have side effects that can weaken or kill if they aren't monitored properly. Some ,e specially doctors who treat depression, give things that can make things worse, and aren't following up efficiently or enough to see what differences the meds make.

Prozac can give some people suicidal tendencies? Not 100% sure.

In some instances, people can do some research to figure out ways to bypass pharmaceuticals altogether to manage health issues. Unless it's immediately life-threatening.

I've never taken anti-depressants and I'm not convinced anyone really needs to take pills for depression.

Some need them along with a competent doctor monitoring what they're doing, and changing if necessary. There are many different anti depressants and not all work for everybody. Some help, some make things worse and some do nothing. Counseling is also needed, along with checking environmental issues and diet.

You can go to any pharmacy in Thailand and buy any antibiotics over the counter
