BREAKING - It’s been revealed the Minnesota democratic lawmakers shot last night, State Rep. Melissa Hortman and State Sen. John Hoffman, both recently voted against their party, with Hortman supporting repeal of free healthcare for illegals and Hoffman joining Republicans in the Senate to pass it.

Could be blowback from the far left. Why would a right winger target these two in particular? Seems very random.

Highly unlikely.

Nothing about that from credible news sources

I would guess home invasion but they said the suspect is a "white man with brown hair wearing black body armor over a blue shirt and blue pants."

Here's more:

Rep. Melissa Hortman was the only Democrat to vote with Republicans to repeal MinnesotaCare for illegal immigrant adults. Sen. John Hoffman did not, but the bill still passed 68–65 in the House and 37–30 in the Senate.

Surely this is pretty easy to confirm. MinnesotaCare exists at least.

Should probably wait until all the information comes out. Considering no one has been caught yet.

The left can't wait for the facts; they need to get it drummed get it looping on the news that it was right-wing terrorism. Facts do not matter to the left.

Classic straw clutching

I bet it's corruption related.

I think terrorists, left or right, would pick people to kill someone has heard of.

True, they love to put out their narrative before anyone knows the motive.  IE Gabby Giffords.

Not really.

The title of this thread should be changed until the facts come out.

No, the left needs to pretend this was committed by white nationalist MAGA Trump supporters. They'll keep saying it for the next ten years, and they'll all swear it's true regardless of what happend.

Grow up should apply to the  people who use over the top rhetoric to describe people with different political positions. Name calling and belittling is part of the dehumanization process. Constantly labeling opponents of Republican policies as leftist radicals, or anti american or traitor is not  right. Nor is calling Republicans who want responsible fiscal policies , nazis acceptable.

Why did someone shoot Steve Scalise?

The man had a history of weird behavior. He attacked the bipartisan charity fundraiser baseball game because he was anti-social and while at first described as possibly angry with Republicans, was later found to be upset with Democrats too. The takeaway is that he was one of too many US nationals who believed that their problems will be solved through a mass shooting murder event. And like most of the USA's mass murderers, he was a white male, and of lower socio economic status.

Yep, this is discourse on social media.

Is that the perp?

Yes, The full US Secret Service profile is an inventory of mental illness. It left out a few things. His agitated state when he called his US representative's office (who incidentally was a republican), his anger at the Democrats when Bernie Sanders was not nominated. There is a mention of wanting Sanders to run as a Green, but other people say he was rather "forceful" in his  views. Definitely, a really disturbed man. Representative Scalise wasn't the only victim. As Sen. Rand Paul stated, had the Capital police not been present as part of Scalise's protection, it would have been a mass murder event, with spectators killed in the melee.

Minnesota Democratic leader killed in ‘politically motivated’ shooting, governor says

"Melissa Hortman, a top Democrat in the Minnesota House, and her husband were fatally shot early Saturday by a gunman impersonating a police officer in what Gov. Tim Walz (D) called a “politically motivated assassination.” State Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife were seriously wounded in a shooting believed to be connected to the same suspect, authorities said. A manhunt is underway for the suspect, who fled police after a brief exchange of gunfire at the Hortman home.

  • Minnesota state Rep. Melissa Hortman (D) and her husband, Mark, were fatally shot at their home in Brooklyn Park, near Minneapolis. Hortman was a party leader and served as the speaker until early this year.

  • Minnesota state Sen. John Hoffman (D) and his wife, Yvette, were shot early Saturday by the same suspect, according to Drew Evans, superintendent of the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension. The couple was found by police and taken to a hospital. Hoffman and his wife are “in a difficult situation, but we’re cautiously optimistic that they will continue to improve,” Evans said.
