Immigration Iranian Man Arrested for Overstaying Thai Visa After Dating Local Woman

An Iranian national was nabbed by Samut Sakhon immigration police for overstaying his visa after courting a Thai woman via a dating app.

 

On 14th June, immigration officers in Samut Sakhon arrested a 33-year-old Iranian man, Mr. Mojtaba Shabani, who overstayed his visa after renting a house with his Thai girlfriend.

 

The man had been residing illegally in the country without extending his stay and was found hiding in a rented house in Krathum Baen district.

This arrest followed a directive from Police General Kittirat Phanphat, urging strict action against illegal foreign residents. The investigative team uncovered that Shabani used a dating app targeting Thai women, leading to his prolonged and illegal stay.

 

Authorities have charged him under Section 81 of the Immigration Act, B.E. 2522, for overstaying his visa. He was taken to Krathum Baen police station for further legal proceedings.

I'm sorry but this wording makes it seem so nefarious. He was in Thailand and was using a dating app to find women. How is this targeting? . Ultimately, he overstayed his visa and got caught. 

He is in Thailand so of course he would be seeking Thai woman using the dating app. He found a GF and moved in with her then overstayed his visa. I do not say the OP is wrong. Perhaps I misunderstand how it is worded.

Surely you must realize by now that these are not journalists or even competently educated adults writing this garbage? This has been going on for years, I am sure none of them actually leave their offices, they just sit all day making up <deleted>, making incoherent sentences, paragraphs and stories.
