Authorities in Bangkok have dismantled an illegal scheme operating from a company in Soi Sukhumvit 13, Watthana District. The operation involved converting standard plastic credit cards into counterfeit metal cards resembling premium brands, deceiving consumers into believing they offered exclusive airport privileges.

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) conducted the raid, uncovering a suite of equipment used in the illicit transformation process. Among the seized items were skimming devices, a computer designed for transferring card data, sophisticated laser engraving machines, and an array of metal cards emblazoned with logos from major banking institutions.

These fake VIP cards were marketed to unsuspecting members of the public, providing them with access to luxury airport amenities such as VIP parking, exclusive airport lounges, and shuttle services. However, the privileges promised were not linked to legitimate cardholder benefits.

The Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECD) has issued a warning emphasising the risks of sharing card details. Allowing anyone access to such information or permitting unauthorised copies can lead to severe consequences, including personal data theft and unauthorised transactions. These breaches can stealthily deplete a victim's account without their immediate knowledge.

Officials are urging the public to exercise caution and report suspicious activities to help combat financial fraud. This case highlights the need for vigilance in protecting personal information in an age where such fraudulent schemes are increasingly sophisticated.

An investigation is ongoing to identify all individuals involved and determine the full extent of the operation. The authorities are dedicated to holding those responsible accountable and preventing future incidents that compromise consumer safety and trust.
