EU review indicates Israel breached human rights in Gaza

An EU review “paints a grim picture” of Israel’s failure to adhere to international obligations, Ireland’s premier Micheal Martin has said.

The Taoiseach said the report highlights the restriction of food and medicines into Gaza, which he said “amounts to the use of starvation as a method of war”.

“It describes an unprecedented level of killing and injury of civilians in Gaza resulting from indiscriminate attacks without proportion or precaution, as well as attacks on hospitals, forced mass displacements and the killing of journalists. All of this with a persistent lack of accountability.''

Of course they think this.  Never mind it is war and they are fighting a dishonorable foe that hides behind their own population and lies through their teeth about atrocities.  None of that is ever di

  • I'll say it again, might makes right, everything else is just noise. People seem to think there is some type of World rules and laws, guess who made those? Yup, those with the most "might". At any mom

  • That was before the enquiry started. The result of the enquiry seems to be this: "Israel's actions in the Gaza Strip indicate a breach of the human rights provisions contained in its Association

Why are all the human rights organizations not outraged by all the civilians Iran is intentionally killing in Israel?

What did he say about the Palestinians failure to release the hostages ?

Could you give some examples of that ?

Which military bases did Israel move to civilian areas ?

Sounds like more lies from the Palestinian camp

If you care to read carefully I did not say "moved".

Perhaps research the HaKirya  sites general location. And several other strategic sites Iran has reportedly targeted inside Tel Aviv .

The Israeli Military Censor has barred detail by public media.

When truth is labelled as lies it explains the false accusations.

Hey, so why are none of the human rights organizations up in arms about the civilians Iran is killing in Israel?

Oh my, you have no shame. A statement from the Irish PM. Weren't they the crowd who couldn't find Israel fitting the category for committing Genocide so decided to change the definition. :saai:

No wonder the Israeli embassy decided to pack up and close shop there.

Israel’s Irish foes have just come up with their most shameless plan yet
If not enough European leaders agree that this is genocide, no problem: simply change what ‘genocide’ means

Still, Cork’s councillors will have been heartened to see that the Irish government is keeping up the fight. Micheál Martin, the Taoiseach, says that Israel is guilty of genocide. To his great frustration, however, the leaders of few other European nations seem to agree with him. In order to persuade them, therefore, he’s come up with an inspired plan. In the Irish parliament this week, he said: “We’re hoping that we will broaden the criteria by which genocide is judged by the Geneva Convention.”
In other words: since other leaders don’t agree that Israel is guilty of genocide, we’ll simply change the definition of “genocide”, until they do.

A recent European Union report, issued by the EU’s diplomatic service, finds that Israel may be violating its human rights obligations under Article 2 of the EU-Israel Association Agreement.

The findings cite Israel’s humanitarian blockade of Gaza, attacks on civilian infrastructure and forced displacement and settler violence in the West Bank.

As countries like Spain, Ireland, and the Netherlands are urging tougher action, FRANCE 24's Eve Irvine welcomes Lynn Boylan, Irish MEP, Chair of the EU Delegation for Relations with Palestine.

So no news then

The Irish! who changed the very definition of Genocide especially for Israel....................

Several European diplomats said they expected Kallas to propose some options during that meeting, with one stressing no action was likely to be agreed on before the end of the summer, adding the war in Iran has moved the goalposts — pushing some nations to voice renewed support for Israel.

The EU has negotiated a "significant" improvement of humanitarian aid access into Gaza, including an increase of food trucks, and an agreement to "protect the lives of aid workers", High Representative Kaja Kallas announced on Thursday.

The steps agreed include delivery of "substantial" food and non-food items to enter Gaza, the reopening of crossings through Jordanian and Egyptian aid routes and enabling the distribution of food supplies through bakeries and public kitchens throughout the enclave, according to a statement released by Kallas.

It also involves the resumption of fuel deliveries for use by humanitarian facilities, the repair and facilitation of works on vital infrastructure, like the resumption of the power supply to the water desalination facility.

The ministers for foreign affairs of Palestine and Israel will be in the same meeting as part of the EU-Southern Neighbourhood ministerial meeting on Monday 14 July in Brussels, diplomats and officials have told Euronews.

The meeting aims to deepen the EU’s cooperation with Israel as well as nine other southern partners including Syria and Libya.

It’s the first time both sides will be represented at high level in Brussels since Hamas October 7th terror attacks and subsequent Israeli military action in Gaza.

The European Union is putting together a pressure campaign against Israel in case the new aid agreements for the Gaza Strip fail, diplomats in Brussels told dpa.

These include suspending trade benefits, imposing an arms embargo, and blocking Israel's access to the EU's Horizon research funding programme.

The measures could also involve tightening entry requirements for Israeli citizens and imposing sanctions on politicians deemed responsible for the catastrophic humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.

Still not happened after all this time and the war would have been over months ago. Perhaps they should add a pressure campaign on Hamas? Thought not.

SARAJEVO (Reuters) -Slovenia declared two far-right Israeli cabinet ministers, Itamar Ben-Gvir and Bezalel Smotrich, persona non grata on Thursday, the first European Union country to do so, Foreign Minister Tanja Fajon said.

The government accused Israel's national security minister Ben-Gvir and finance minister Smotrich - both West Bank settlers - of making "genocidal statements" and inciting violence against Palestinians.

There was no immediate reaction from Israel's government which has regularly rejected accusations of genocide in Gaza, and says it is acting in self-defence following the deadly October 7, 2023, attack led by Hamas militants.
