Slow Wise transfers

Check the partner bank used on the receipt, if the transfer was slower chances Wise used their new Tranglo partner. I made a transfer Monday from Singapore Thb80k, the Kasikorn sms arrived before the one from HSBC, partner was Kasikorn. Transfer to the wife's SCB account of Bht5,000 took 40 minutes, partner was Tranglo.

Some times it is slow and others tit takes juat a few seconds. I don't believe, but I may be wrong, the problem is with Wise but the bank the money is being sent to.

If you require that coding in your passbook then you'll have to accept the delays. If you don't, then switch to another option. I use 'general living expenses' and my transfers to Krungsri are nearly always instant.

If you need the transfer to show as an International one for Immigration purposes, best to put Long Term Stay just to be on the safe side. I think that your choice stays at your last choice. However a Personal Expenses transfer on Monday arrived in Bkk Bank as FTT at 14.03 yesterday. All as normal.

Your experience obviously trumps mine, and stated Wise and bank policy.

You are special. What would I know, only transferring funds 2-3 times per month for the last 5 plus years? 

If you have never had a 24-hour delay, you are lucky -- the exception, not the rule

Same for me, sending from my US credit union to Kasikorn. And when I used Wise this week to send Vietnam Dong to a friend's VN bank account for the first time, that also took less than ten seconds. There's no obvious pattern, but people sending funds to Bangkok Bank seem to experience more delays than those remitting to Kasikorn.

Than I had 5/6 years luck... but I don't believe that.... I am not an exception... and read when you check the rates.. It will arrives in  seconds,is many times mentioned and it changed in it will arrive in 3/4 hours now....not it will arrive tomorrow

FFS. The last 5 to six years are not in question. Recent practices are.

Thai banking practices regarding peer-to-peer transfers have changed; some Thai banks have established a waiting period. 

As I have said, Bangkok bank will transfer the same day (after 2 pm) if you transfer before 10 am, transfer after that, and it comes the next day.

Transfer after 10 am on Friday and you will likely wait until Monday. This has been consistent for a couple of months.

the thing is in many cases it is not up to WISE but the bank and their local partner

Transfer from US Brokerage Bank Account and Yes now it will always takes at least a day or more.

 

Rather small amounts $1000.

 

Think mine is caused by it being a Brokerage Bank Account vs. one of Big US Banks

It is wise as you got a mail that has transferred the money to the bank....So the problem is with Wise not with the receiving bank. You get the message that Wise received the money and it must be "processed" and later the next day you get a message that the money is sent to the bank... Nothing to do receiving banks it is surely Wise that hold it back. Why is kasikorn no problem??

Interesting you say that. I've never had a hiccup with Wise. But a payment I wanted to make into a Thai account on Friday May 30th was held till Wednesday June 4th as well. It was Queen Suthida's birthday on the Tuesday and Monday was a bridge public holiday.

 

The previous month the same payment shot straight through.

Indeed and Wise claimed it was because of the holidays... But with Remitly I made a transfer and it arrived instantly on Sunday... less then 10 seconds... My opinion holds.. why is Wise  keep your money back?? As a banker for 26 years I know they will do it for making profit, but they pretend to fast, but that was several months ago

i have been using WISE for years and recently transferred a few million baht in various transaction to my kasikorn account.

These transfers went smoothly with the usual turn around time of a few seconds.

however tonight i tried to transfer 10K AUD.

wise took an exceptionally long time to add it to my account, despite my Aussie bank account telling me that the transfer was completed.

 wise slowed right down.

slowed down to the point where i cancelled the transfer.

 

i contacted the so called help service and asked what was happening and they reassured me that the service was normal and i should try again.

 

I did, with a lesser amount, same slow response.

again contacted Wise through lack of help line and i was informed that they had to check my account, i asked 

"Keenan D" to check my recent transactions, he supposedly did  but was absoloutly useless when it came to helping with the transfer.

 

what used to be a great company to deal with has degenerated into a hit and miss affair.

I transfer from UK to KBank and BB.

 

The Kbank transfers happened almost immediately the BB transfers arrive either within a few hours on the same day or the following day.

 

I've no Idea why there is such a disparity.

Still no mention of reason for transfer being selected, but as per various other posts that is now the standard for all BBL transfers whereas previously instant transfers were possible.

 

It's not Wise withholding anything for any reason other than that is how the current transfer process works.

Personal expenses it is my pension every month from the same bank ...I don't understand why don't don't get it...Wise is withholding the money for a day..for some reason.. Explain please why there was no problem the last 5/6 year I transferred te same amount from the same bank to the same bank which arrived in seconds and now it suddenly takes more than 24 hours...You work at Wise as you want to check it?? I pay with Ideal so it goes quick. get email that Wise received the money and it is being processed....and now you get a email the next day that the money has been sent to Bangkok bank and that it can take a few hours to see it on the account... What did Wise do with the money before they sent it to the bank??? Some months ago it was the same but in seconds.. Now there is nothing changed.. It is all digital and nothing has to be done by that.. Believe me I worked at a bank for 26 years...

Of course something has changed and it's been discussed numerous times across several threads.  I posted this earlier but will repeat again.

 

Wise recently changed and transfers to Bangkok Bank now all appear as International Transfers and will arrive shortly after 2:00pm on a working day.  This will be the same working day if initiated early enough (I think before something like 09:30 or 10:00) or the next day if after that.

 

If that service does not support your needs then don't use it.

Now wise is very Slow. Bank of Montreal posted debit card transaction June 19th BUT wise transferred money to KasiKorn Bank June 25th.

That is not the fault of Wise but of the Thai government and public/bank holidays.

 

Do you not do a search of which days on the internet for Thai bank/public holidays.

yes sure... I had never a problem on holidays in weekends with tranferring money... But of course now suddenly it is a problem, but Remitly could do it the 1st in June a Sunday in seconds....explain please your statement  for that

Agreed. I checked the hols out when Wise told me it'd take till Wednesday to get through. My landlady was OK with it. I really don't feel the need to check public holidays before I have to make a transfer. Maybe it's crucial for others.

I only check once a year, usually in Devember and save the bank/public holidays fo the following year.

 

It helps with Immigration as well.

Sorry, I should have mentioned "many" other banks.  I have 3 Thai accounts, Kasikorn, Bangkok Bank, and SCB.

 

For me, only Kasikorn has consistently been within seconds. 

 

I believe somebody above mentioned that Kasikorn is Wise's main bank in Thailand, and I suppose that would be the reason for my experiences.
