Man, that is such a sophomoric and hyperbolic statement. Let me ask you a favor. Make sure you and wear your MAGA cap when you are out and about town. Some of us would like fair warning .. please help us avoid the nonsense.  You might as well just post this instead: "My thinking is about as blunt as using a hammer to fix a watch and crude as a fart in church"

The mayor even said so much, remember? 2 races are the primary criminals in NYC and everyone else are their victims.

Which is why I am all for "profiling", if you want to use resources properly then by all means, use profiling.

A 26-year-old Thai student and aspiring model was attacked and robbed in New York, raising concerns about the response from Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) staff. Finding no immediate help, she had to flag down a car to reach the police.

Details of the June 22 incident emerged on Facebook, urging Thai nationals to stay vigilant. The victim, known as Zyne, was brutally assaulted at a Brooklyn subway station. Her attacker punched and slashed her face before stealing her belongings. Part of this terrifying incident was recorded on her phone and uploaded automatically.

Zyne sought help from nearby MTA employees, but her attempts were unsuccessful. She then managed to stop a passing vehicle, which enabled her to contact the police and receive medical care. Currently, she is recovering from significant physical injuries and psychological trauma.

This attack draws parallels to a 2021 incident involving Thai model Bew Jirajariyawetch, who was also assaulted in a Manhattan subway station.

Deciding to speak out, Zyne is highlighting the rise in violence, particularly against Asian women in New York City. Her bravery underscores widespread frustration over similar cases that often go unacknowledged. Victims frequently feel isolated and vulnerable, lacking a voice. Zyne calls for awareness, accountability, and change.

An update on the case reveals the New York Police Department (NYPD) arrested the suspect, 54-year-old Lewis Doctor, four days after the incident at Chauncey Street Subway Station. However, no interviews have been conducted with local media to discuss the motive behind the attack.

The mayor himself said we need to profile those people because they're 95% of the eventual arrests and it was thrown back in his face. The police know exactly who commits the crimes but their hands are tied. All you can say at this point is you enter those cities at your own risk.

Have you ever looked at crime stats superimposed on Red/Blue political maps?  You should.  It 'splains a lot. For example, why Salt Lake City in "Red state" Utah has one of the highest crime rates.  It's because SLC votes Blue while Utah as a whole votes Red.

Only in your mind. The opinion oversimplifies the relationship between political affiliation and crime rates, implying a direct causal link without evidence. Crime rates are influenced by complex factors like poverty, education, policing, and urban density, not just voting patterns. Salt Lake City's crime rate (higher than Utah's average but not among the highest nationally) reflects urban challenges, not solely its "Blue" voting. Correlation doesn't equal causation, and cherry-picking examples like SLC ignores broader data showing no consistent Red/Blue crime pattern. For instance, red states like Louisiana often have high crime rates, while blue states like Vermont can have low ones. The claim lacks rigorous statistical backing and oversimplifies a multifaceted issue.

Anyone who goes to NYC and rides the subway is taking their lives in their own hands.

II lived in Pakistan for 3 years and felt safer there than I did in Toronto or any large city.

Thailand is a dream and a very safe city.

Good news for NYC is that they are going to elect a socialist who wants to get rid of the police and Jewish people.  Wants everyone to get their food from a free groceriy store.

Things will get so much better for people in the city.

The challngeis that these things are happening in cities that harbour immigrants that commit crimes, let the people that commit them out on bail or their own recog faster than the police can do the paperwork and have DA's that give salaps on the wrist for crime.

Try the same crap in Texas or Florida and see the diference.

If they made it safer here to walk, cross the street, and drive....I would agree with you. But yes, as far as crime, much safer.

This is my consensus. Thailands roads and US crime counteract each other. Feeling safe is a matter of opinion and depends exactly where you are

Of course you're not.

But Dems vote for "equity" in justice, making allowances for certain demographics to commit crimes with impunity because they had a rough upbringing and because they're incarcerated at a higher rate than other demographics.  Which, of course is racist and completely neglects the FBI statistics that show they're incarcerated at a higher rate because they commit crimes at a higher rate.

I just don't think that this is one of those black and white areas, there are a lot of shades of grey in this area. For instance I am a Centrist Democrat, very moderate and I believe in a lot of Republican positions. I support the death penalty, the right to bear a few arms, I'm against abortion after the first trimester, I could literally go on and on about the conservative positions that I support. I'm very anti-woke, I'm the least PC person you'll ever meet and I vote for candidates based on those issues.

I didn't vote for Trump because I've known who Trump was since the late seventies, I'm from New York and was in commercial real estate. I just simply have too many first-hand stories and I knew he was a absolute pig, and I just couldn't get behind him. But I didn't vote for Harris either, I abstained. In my opinion both choices were horrifically bad. So I could not vote.

I think we need to allow nuance into this discussion. I think you can understand that as you are one of the truly rational guys on this forum, and your replies are intelligent, therefore you bring quite a bit to the table.

The fact that ever become anything more than a cut and dry case is the problem in and of itself. Even if he got off it doesn't matter because there's a chilling effect now. I learned the lesson, if some black guy is causing chaos on the subway then don't intervene otherwise you could be sent to jail. That's why NYC has these problems.

Brings to mind the movie The Brave One, with Jodie Foster. Watched it again last night it's a brilliant film, one of Neil Jordan's great films, and it's an incredibly satisfying film for those of us who love vigilante justice. So where are the vigilantes when we need them?

I didn't bring up Salt Lake City.  Patong2021 did.  As an example of a very high crime rate in a Red state.  Here's his quote:  Salt Lake City, Utah ranks first for rape and larceny theft among small-sized cities. Your logic holds that Republicans and Mormons are to blame.  He didn't drill deep enough to see that SLC is a Blue oasis of criminality in that Red state.

Pull up just any lefty MSM crime "statistic" and I can scratch just below the surface to show you why it's wrong.  Starting with FBI statistics.  Lots of examples from several posters on this thread alone.

They don't want to be prosecuted for doing the right thing.  I can't say I blame them after the Daniel Penny trial.

But the real shame of it all is that we need them desperately, when the law doesn't take serious crime seriously, the people should.

You are a dying breed lol

Most of the cities are run by Leftist Dems.  Just look at who the DNC elected to run for Mayor of NYC  , then look at Bass in LA.  The old DNC is no longer now it is the leftist, almost Bernie socailist party

Remember that while only 3% or the country is LGBTQ, and there are only a few people competing in sports with women, it is the hue and cry of the DNC

The party has lost it's way and really there is no room for you as a centerist look at what they are doing to their Hero Fetterman.

This is normal in NYC.

yeah but, it would not have made the news if the woman did not choose to make it into a hate crime or twist the story to instill a suspicion Asians get more violence.

In New York City, the violent crime rate is approximately 684.1 per 100,000 residents. This includes offenses like murder, rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

Been here a while, so my memory may be wrong, but walking across some of the busier streets in Toronto was not much safer than here.

But that is a utilites it has nothing to do with the people

“not violated physically “?

WTF do you call being beaten and having one’s face slashed then?

Well, robberies take place in the US on a daily basis. Sounds like this perp has something against Asian women, which would make this morw or less an isolated case. Since they have the a-hole now, I'm assuming that this will stop now.
