We don’t even bother to make a special time/trip for the 90-day. We just stop by the drive-up window when passing by. Simply not a problem.

there's also the 'all in one' govt services in some malls.  Hard to believe people think 90 day pulse check is a big inconvenience.

No argument here, and I simply accept the silliness, as it's voluntary to be here.   Those venting, should try venting elsewhere, as useless to vent here.  Nobody here cares or can help.

now immigration send email so you now when to do

an appointment,

I got caught out with that one last year. When the emails came through I did the reports, untill one time they didn't send it so I was late. I then couldn't do it online the next time due to system issues. I now have left the country twice since, so I'll have to do it in person again.

My main point though was don't rely on the email, as it may not come. If youre a busy person, it's so easy to forget.

That's something that comes through loud and clear if you follow enough visa/extension threads.  YMMV.  Depending on where you live, which office (and which IO) you deal with, what kind of extension, whether they're "encouraging" the use of agents, etc.

Not bragging, ok? I'm guess I'm lucky that after being in Thailand for so long I have people that take care of my immigration needs' (in my case i get for free for because that someone is an acquaintance of mine) after enduring many years going to the immigration in Chang Wattana.

I am on a retirement extension and have been for many years.

Jomtien is my local office and I do my own yearly extension and 90 day reports.

I have never had a problem with them, sure I have to go back the next day to pick up my passport, well boohoo.

I am retired and have all the time in the world to jump through the hoops once a year.

If you are from Europe, don't you wish your country  had done this to migrants 50 years ago.

Thailand is protecting it's own people, good for them.

Stop complaining and treat it as a day out...

Great post and right on target. Immigration has bever been a problem and you are right about the day out. On the rare occasions I have to report in person, it is an excuse to visit the city.

What is not mentioned is those that do not have drive through.

Those with mobility issues where for example a trip to CW and the Massive office is an extreme challenge.

Again it's plain incompetence that an online reporting system requires in person report after trip abroad.

Yes, I agree and get it ALL online ASAP, especially for those who are mobility challenged.

Then the "missing link" between 90-day report delinquency and border immigration will be erased and a whole bunch of other, lazy pissers and moaners who prefer to game the system will have something new to piss and moan about.

Good for forum traffic but.

It's the 90 day reporting that get's me, I would not care if the IO office is at the end of my street, it is the thought of being treated like a criminal on parole. What other country does this sort of thing to law abiding retiree's?

Doing online really is too easy.   Have so much more freedom here, and govt is up my A$$ about everything and anything.   So they want to know where I live, that's a good thing.   Criminals can be sorted easily.

What other country, in SEA, let's you stay this easy, or even has an official visa for retirement, if meeting the requirements, that you feel comfortable about buying into.

Other countries are fine if you like living out of your backpack, but I prefer stability.   And if in a relationship, owning a house, solar, BEV, cuts the cost of living down to super cheap charlie level if wanting.   I can't think of any other place, where I can have this comfy living on 20k THB a month.

Granted, have to meet the 65k or 800k, but seriously, if that is a stretch, (or 40k / 400k) you shouldn't leave the safety net of home country to begin with.

How anyone reaches the age of 50-60+ without some assets or equity, is mind boggling.   Don't want to burn your bridges back home, then rent you house for the silly money you'll get.   All our socialist countries, the gov't will pay the rent for the needy.

Living isn't hard, and I'm far from a genius or rich.  Life is tough start for new generation, but that's not us.

The rules were here before we arrived, and not much has changed.  Our embassy screwed us, no income letters.  Though a good thing for me, as $50 USD was a scam in itself, and, except for USA, you had to go get it.   Going to the bank is a lot easier & cheaper.

Maybe you should brush up on rules and regulation for say the uk.

TM-30, 90  day report,  home visits, citizenship, Passport, right to buy land

and so on.

Please stop your silly nonsense,

Surprised you didn't use the word guest in your post.

There is nothing silly in the post. The OP is talking about Immigration in Thailand, NOT the UK. Please stop your silly posts about the UK.

It has nothing o do with the OP topic, so stop trying to divert the topic.

Yes immigration is never a problem until it is.

For those that have lived in the same province for many years , use the same office all the time.

sure you know the ropes and it's mostly an easy task.

But move to a different province and all that can change.

and they would be the first to come on here crying. big Yawn :coffee1:

The OP is right nothing to complain about now , over the years ,things you could

complain about ,like getting up at 4 in the morning to get in a que ,to get a ticket

so you could do the extension that day , now it could not be easier, book a appointment

in advance ,and just roll up to  immigration ,whole thing took less than an hour ,doing

90 day online 10 mins tops , now immigration send email so you now when to do

an appointment,

Nowt to complain about here  regards worgeordie

But there will always be somebody who will find a way to complain about some minor insignificant point

The simple fact that Thai online 90 day reporting can not cope with a trip abroad and requires a trip in person to immigration to reset the clock is the ridiculous part.

Okay, this is actually a question...

If you are out of the country frequently on an annual retirement O-extension (I am out now), it's possible that you'd never actually need to do a 90 day report, isn't that right? It would depend on timing of your trips abroad, but if you travelled 3 or 4 times in a year, potentially you'd never be in Thailand long enough for a 90 day in-person report (or online report), isn't that right? Or have I got this wrong.. (I haven't done one yet..and this is my second trip away).

Correct... 90 day counter starts on entry... before 90 are leave... up and rinse repeat.

You have not got it wrong.

I didn't do a 90 report for my first 7 years here due to frequent travel.

Despite being out of Thailand for very short periods the clock never reached 90 days.

How important is TM47? Answer:  Zero

However, law abiding retirees usually follow the laws of the country that they are staying in.
