Armpit rash?

Just the one, had it about three months, tried a few ointments and lotions from the pharmacy which has some effect, but comes back. Anyone any idea what it is and how to get rid of it? Not using any deodorants on it, starting to itch a bit.

No answer for you - but I have had the same for about 2 months. Just my left one. I thought it was from friction from some of my t-shirts.   Cortisone cream will calm it down - but it returns after a day or 2.

Will make it worse in cases like pictured , steroid cream should be avoided.

 

clotrimazole type cream - not mixed with steroids

Immediately cut back on sugars and yeast i.e. beer , bread etc 

 

 tolnaftate + lamisil  , and some strong dandruff shampoos 

 

****Fluconazole and or Griseofulvin (Fluvin) pills would be a last resort if it does not start to clear with topical treatments

Looks like contact dermatitis to me.  Past use of a deodorant that caused an allergic reaction, or maybe reaction to washing powder/liquid.  

 

Try changing washing liquid to a mild, natural one with no bleaching agents.

 

Also try shirts that have a lose fit to avoid contact with clothing under armpit.

I agree, assuming it is a yeast infection. 

(Which "ointments and lotions" have you tried? For how long? How was the effect?)

 

You should avoid topical medications with steroids ( medicine ending on '-sone'), use only medications that have only 1 ingredient (e.g. clotrimazole or bifonazole), and continue the medication a week after the symptoms have disappeared.

No deodorants! But keep the affected areas dry and cool.

 

Lamisil or Tolnaftate are not first choice,  better something ending on '-zole' like I said (there are many, Econazole is another good one).

 

Instead of Nizoral shampoo, you can try to find generic ketoconazole shampoo, same ingredient,  but cheaper.

Is it an actual rash - with a raised surface or just a skin pigmentation change?

 

You mention itching which does suggest some form of rash but after multiple months - is it spreading or confined to only the 'sweaty' area ?

A 'rash' is a symptom, not the root problem.

This might sound heretical, but have you considered going to a clinic, having them take a sample, and testing it to find out what is causing the rash? 

 

Let them grow a culture in a Petri dish so you know which medicines will work.

 

Sometimes, it's better to identify the problem before working to fix it.

Had a similar rash before , used Bennett Natural E Soap to wash it a couple of times a day , when dry applied Protex cooling powder.

After a couple of days it started to disappear.

creams clobet and T.A cream and lotion T.V. Lone, lotion knocked it back but not completely

These are all steroids. They will suppress the symptoms for a while,  and then it will come back. Avoid them. 

 

You can try what @NickyLouieand I recommend above. Our assumption is that it's fungus.  If antifungal therapy (without any steroids!) doesn't have any effect in a week or so, go see a doctor.

Lot of anti fungus creams, asked the pharmacist for the strongest. She said Zalain from Russia 2% sertaconazol willl see if that works

 I had shingles rash that looked similar to yours, you should be tested for shngles and follow Doctors instructions…..they gave me a steroid ointment, forgot name of it.
