If anyone has any information on agents or individuals looking to sell the original lifetime transferable Elite visa, please drop me a message.

There are a couple of very deluded people attempting to sell these for far more than they are worth and you should be aware that even if you do buy one - you don't get the same benefits that they do - it changes into something more recent - as they have altered the types of membership available I have no idea what it gets converted into these days - but it used to be the 20 year version.

I believe that's true for the 2nd iteration (after 2005?), but as I understand it the very first version can be transfered indefinitely in theory and retain the lifetime status of the new holder.

As for the benefits and perks, I don't mind losing them, so not a big deal for me either way.

I would be very careful - I've seen people attempting to sell these for years - but they mostly do it on facebook groups - there are a few groups there which you should check out - just search for them. Someone was attempting to sell on a few months ago - he wanted a high price for it - I think it was 5 million Baht or more but that's just from memory

You will not get a good deal no matter what happens.

Appreciate the insight.  I realize it will be expensive and willing to pay a substantial amount for it.  I had a look on FB but couldn't find anything.  Were you referring to the private Elite Visa group or somewhere more generic?

Why are you so desperate to buy one?  Why not just use regular visas?

How old are you?   For an unmarried person, after 50 it's incredibly easy to stay here long term; and below 50 it's not difficult to stay here for a significant portion of the year as long as you can afford to have a base in at least one other country.

if you are young and capable of making money online simply rent a condo in Bangkok and a condo in Ho Chi Minh, then just bounce between them every few weeks, and spend some time in a third location during the year to keep yourself non-tax resident in any one place.

I wouldn't say I'm desperate to buy one.  But I'm in my 30's and have a house here so I see a lifetime visa as an investment in my long-term future.  Who knows what the visa rules will be like 20 or 30 years from now.  Maybe an elite visa will be worthless then, but maybe not. I have some money now, so might as well use it to possibly reduce some risk.

They do come up sometimes on the FB groups. The original first version of the Elite with unlimited lifetime transfers are as rare as hen's teeth now, but the subsequent version is less uncommon and converts to 30 years on first sale I think (rules got modified over time). Some of the visas have an annual fee of ฿20k, and they're SE (special entry) type visas meaning only 3 months given on entry. TPC in the past has offered to convert for free to one of the modern PE (privilege entry) visas which provide one year stamp but lose some of the older benefits. Actually the original visa was poorly designed and the freebies they offered (golf, spa etc) almost babkrupted the business in the first decade.

Buying used should not pose any special risk since all membership transfers have to be done through TPC anyway including their commission payment and involve the usual vetting procedures etc. They should be able to advise of any that are currently listed for sale along with the T&Cs of that particular membership. There are genuine reasons for sale that didn't exist a few years ago, including newer visa options and the threat of global taxation. The fact that the older plans can sometimes be resold more than once might make them more desirable than the modern versions.
