A rather silly comment. This is a serious issue for Thais who have invested heavily in this business.

Silly comment. There is no guarantee for self employment. Wrong choice, that's it.

  • Folks.... The people running the show dont give a rats azz whether weed is used for medical purposes or not, they could care less about medical cards and all the rest of the medical nonsense..

  • Hopefully can smell the Thai food in the streets of Bangkok again instead of weed.Hope to not see any stoned foreigner again with a silly smile on his face.

First page there was a link from thaiger explains the fees. Apparently 500 is initial qualification.

I said this two years ago in a cannabis forum - this is nothing but a way to collect more money.

I said exactly this - nothing will change, except you will pay for the doctor's paperwork, similar to the requirement when getting a driving license health certificate.

I don't smoke much weed, prefer hash. BUT I would definitely not sign up for a medical card which would give all my passport details, home address, etc. Why not just turn myself in to the police?

I'm quite sure this will put off tourists especially. Vountarily going onto a leaky database of users for something that used to be and may again become illegal hardly sounds wise. Things that at one time weren't much of a problem here (overstay, certain visa types like education, volunteer etc) are now used against people.

As Chairman Mao campaigned, "Let a hundred flowers blossom”.

It just shows how ridiculous it all is,    Are they expected to believe that millions of tourist have travelled here  and suddenly have a medical need for cannabis, despite coming from a country where it is illegal and theoretically not available lol as if  !!  Nearly as stupid as  so-called doctors prescribing it for asthma .

For gods sake stop the pantomime just leave things as they are , maybe some restrictions about where one can and can't smoke for the idiots but thats about it.

Or rather similar to the charge incurred whenever a doctor prescribes medicine, its never free,

Strangely I have been prescribed bucket loads of diazepam  tramadol gabapentin and amitriptyline all of which  have the possibility of being misused or sold on to others , and all of which can be addictive with nasty withdrawal symptoms,    with out all this unnecessary  hassle that will apply to the relatively benign , by comparison, devils lettuce,  Its actually beyond belief what they are doing

And the alarming numbers of young Thai kids now smoking regularly before their brains have finished developing is also a serious issue. So I am pleased about this legal backtracking.

No problem, they can still take yaba  it's more discreet.

tourism industry is gearing up for a mid-year revival, fuelled by the Thai government's new plan to boost domestic travel and spending.

The government will cover 50% of accommodation costs, capped at 3,000 baht per night on weekdays and 40% on weekends and public holidays. Additionally, tourists will receive 500-baht coupons for food and shopping at participating businesses.

I was wondering if you had any sympathy for those that invested in an "illegal" business   As you have not reminded us for a while?

I only need to remind those whose memory is failing, or still don't understand...

where did you here that gem of misinformation?      it is/ wass  illegal for under 21's     if they are smoking illegally now what will new restrictions achieve ...nothing obviously as these "kids" if they really exist do not buy it from dispensaries . Are there alarming numbers of pregnant women smoking it too?
