They do that to overtake the cars that are waiting for a green light,They think that they can /are allowed  to do anything. many cars and motorbikes  do same

They do it because nobody stops them from doing it, there is no police force in Thailand that enforces traffic laws. The only police force found in Thailand is the RTP, which operates like a Mafia, they only enforce laws that enrich themselves or protect/serve the Elite, or in reaction to scrutiny from the public after being exposed for doing nothing about public safety.

If it was my daughter, I would have dragged the bus driver out of the bus and beat him to death. I stopped parking in the designated school parking area, where we need to walk across 3  separate Zebra

Yet again, we witness another pedestrian failing to look, seemingly operating under the assumption that it’s safe to cross with disregard for their own wellbeing....

Before she got hit you can just barely make out she bowed her head a little suggesting she thought the bus saw her and would stop.

Probably brake failure.

Mental failure more like it

OK,   We all know Enforcement is Crap, so how about the Courts  make the punishment fit the crime, or are they just as bad....

Yes

There is nothing wrong with the crossings.

It is due to the many stupid drivers and the complete lack of enforcement and punishment.

What should happen, but probably won't, is that the bus driver should be charged with multiple offences and jailed for a minimum of 10 years, lose his licence for life, be sacked from the bus company and the bus company fined 19 million baht.

A 1000 baht fine and the driver back on the road next week is the most likely outcome.

Yep... I saw that...  but it seems she just 'went through the motions' rather than actually looked properly and paid attention...

I saw nothing of the sort.

Sadly, it was clear the bus could not stop even if the driver had seen her. If they had even tried, the bus following would have hit them.

I assume a minimum of manslaughter or 2nd degree murder charges are forthcoming.

Those charges wouldn't happen in any other country so why assume that it would happen here?

I assume you also read where I said I made a mistake right ?

I have had to kick so many car doors, smack several car mirrors with a book bag, and push motorcyclist to a stop too many times (including on the sidewalks) getting to school. "...A-holes...".

The irony..."I have had to kick so many car doors, smack several car mirrors with a book bag, and push motorcyclist..."

No, you wouldn't, not without the protection of your keyboard.

Expand

The last line should read, and the bus company fined 10 million baht.

Just as ridiculous, even after the correction.

One doesn't need to know you to recognise a keyboard 'hardman'.

I stopped parking in the designated school parking area, where we need to walk across 3  separate Zebra crossings to get to school, mainly because of how many close calls we've had with motorist trying to hit us inside the crossings. I have had to kick so many car doors, smack several car mirrors with a book bag, and push motorcyclist to a stop too many times (including on the sidewalks) getting to school. I now drive her right to the front door of the school, not taking any more chances. My hatred for Thai drivers and the culture of me-first A-holes in this country who do nothing about it, is well known, and well deserved! The only thing worse is some of the Farang apologists on here who defend Thai bad/dangerous behavior, like it should be tolerated, I hate these idiots more than anyone 🤬

Many Thais are terrible drivers, and do not care about other road users.

NB: I have a license & have driven here

Look there how her head and hair drops down. It's hard to tell but she appears to have looked around the stopped car and did a little bow. She's probably used to cars stopping for her in traffic like this. Dunno just a guess.

Well, people in Thailand don’t look where they are walking so of course they don’t do it when they are crossing the street either.  If children were taught to keep to the left when they are walking , that would become a customary behavior in Thai society.

Are they the 'minimum fines' or the 'up-to' fines ?

Most Thai's will plead poverty.."No hab money"... then what

Zebra crossings should be banned in Thailand, they are so dangerous.

Totally agree as it would take years to train new drivers and existing drivers of the importance of a crossing and what you should legally do when you see one. Unbelievable Thailand drivers. Generally, netizens drive like they don't give a sh...t about pedestrians, or motor bike riders for that matter.

By the way again looking at the video the girl did check to the right but the bus was going so fast she did not see it or expect it on the wrong side of the road. Lock that bus driver and the one following for years. Oh oops. It's Thailand 500 baht fine and I'm sorry. What a joke! May that girl recover fully and live a long life.
