Accident Korean Crashes Toyota Alphard into Multiple Vehicles on Pattaya Road

A late-night collision involving a Korean national behind the wheel of a white Toyota Alphard caused a chain-reaction crash that damaged eight vehicles and left one person injured on Jomtien Second Road in Pattaya.

 

At approximately 23:35 on 8 July,the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Rescue Centre received reports of a multi-vehicle crash with injuries on the outbound lane of Jomtien Second Road, heading towards Sukhumvit Road.

 

Emergency responders and officers from Pattaya City Police Station rushed to the scene, where they found eight cars damaged. Some vehicles were pushed onto the footpath, with others left blocking the road. Police temporarily closed the area to traffic to clear the scene.

 

The vehicle identified as the cause of the crash was a white Toyota Alphard, reportedly driven by a 25-year-old South Korean man. He was not injured and remained at the scene to cooperate with the police.

 

One person, the driver of a black Mazda sedan, sustained injuries after their vehicle was rear-ended, causing it to swerve and collide with other cars. The injured driver was treated at the scene and transported to a local hospital for further care. Others were examined at the scene, but hospital treatment was not required.

 

 

Eyewitnesses stated that the Alphard was travelling at high speed before slamming into the back of the Mazda, triggering a series of collisions. The Korean driver, speaking through an interpreter, claimed that the vehicle’s airbag deployed upon the first impact, striking him in the face and causing him to lose control, which then led to further collisions. He made no comment about why the first collision occurred.

 

Police officers are reviewing CCTV footage from the area and have collected photographic evidence. The driver of the Alphard was taken in for a breathalyser test and further questioning. All involved parties were invited to Pattaya City Police Station for legal mediation and to discuss compensation for damages.

 

Investigations are ongoing.
