Trump denies another Journal report, this time on Powell, Bessent

President Trump responded angrily on Sunday to a Wall Street Journal story that Treasury Department Secretary Scott Bessent had personally sought to talk him out of trying to fire Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell.

Trump, who is currently suing the Journal over its reporting on his relationship with the late Jeffrey Epstein, has been aggressively trying to fire Powell over his handling of interest rates. Legal scholars do not believe Trump has the authority to oust the Fed chair unilaterally, and reports that he might try to do so have shaken Wall Street in recent days.

The most anti-Trump thing you can do is to quote him.

White House removes Wall Street Journal from Scotland press pool over Epstein bombshell -- 07/21/2025 02:58 PM EDT

“As the appeals court confirmed *, the Wall Street Journal or any other news outlet are not guaranteed special access to cover President Trump in the Oval Office, aboard Air Force One, and in his private workspaces,” Leavitt said in a statement.

“Due to the Wall Street Journal’s fake and defamatory conduct, they will not be one of the thirteen outlets on board. Every news organization in the entire world wishes to cover President Trump, and the White House has taken significant steps to include as many voices as possible.”

Epstein's estate has his 50th birthday book, victims' lawyer says
"Ask or subpoena the estate or their lawyers," attorney Brad Edwards said.

July 25, 2025, 5:17 AM -- A prominent lawyer who has represented hundreds of Jeffrey Epstein's victims is calling on Congress to subpoena the disgraced financier's estate for a copy of an alleged birthday book that the Wall Street Journal reported contains a "bawdy" letter from Donald Trump.

Attorney Brad Edwards claimed in an interview on MSNBC's "The Last Word with Lawrence O'Donnell" on Wednesday that some of his clients were involved in assembling the book and could attest to its authenticity.

"If anyone cares for a solution as opposed to perpetuating scandal, there is an obvious and easy way to obtain the book at the center of the latest controversy. It's Jeffrey Epstein's 50th birthday book, and like all other similar possessions, the estate is obviously in possession of it," Edwards said in a statement to ABC News. "Ask or subpoena the estate or their lawyers, and everyone will then have the book and can move on, which is best for the victims."

House Democrats seek access to Jeffrey Epstein's "birthday book" said to include letter from Trump  -- July 26, 2025 / 11:05 AM EDT / CBS News

House Democrats are seeking a copy of Jeffrey Epstein's alleged 2003 "birthday book" that is said to include a "bawdy" letter signed by President Trump to the convicted sex offender.

In a letter to the representatives of Epstein's estate on Friday, Rep. Ro Khanna and House Oversight Ranking Democrat Rep. Robert Garcia, both of California, said the request comes amid Mr. Trump's "desperate attempts to quell public interest in the release of files" related to the disgraced financier.

"Recent public reporting indicates that the Estate of Jeffrey Epstein is in possession of a document commonly referred to as 'the birthday book,' compiled by Ghislaine Maxwell in 2003 in celebration of Mr. Epstein's 50th birthday, which has clear relevance to this case," they wrote in a letter.

NB1 Since this letter is from the committee minority, it is a 'request' not a subpoena

Trump appointees pushed more marble in Fed building renovation White House now attacks

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump has looked to the marble finishes and hefty price tag of the Federal Reserve headquarters to claim grounds to fire Chair Jerome Powell, with whom he has tussled for years over interest rates. But the extensive use of marble in the building is, at least in part, the result of policies backed by Trump himself.

As the Fed moved forward with plans to renovate its Great Depression-era headquarters in Washington during Trump's first term, it faced concerns in 2020 during a vetting process involving Trump appointees, who called for more “white Georgia marble” for the facade of building.

The Fed's architects said the central bank had wanted glass walls to reflect the Fed as a transparent institution, but three Trump appointees to a local commission felt marble best fit the building's historic character. Marble was added as a result, according to the minutes of the Commission of Fine Arts, which advises the federal government on architecture.

Naa trump lied and tryed to piggery back another project into the quote to make it look bad it’s what he does lie confuse and bamboozle.don’t be such a rube he’s been using this playbook for a long time don’t be fooled it makes you look stupid.

JD keeps saying "it's all fake" but won't specify what in particular.

That DT and Epstein were buddies?

That there is a birthday book?

That Epstein isn't really dead?

That DT isn't really president?

And so on  . . .

Maybe his Hindu wife explained the world of illusion stuff to him and he now sees his very life as a hallucination.

Quite enjoyed that scene with Powell at the construction site.  When DT pulled the paper out of his pocket I knew it was a joke:  Powell did too, notice how he was hesitant to put on his glasses.  Pillow guy was pulling that stunt every few days post-2020 election.
