The questioning will be behind closed doors.

Yes, that is my understanding too. It will not be a public hearing. The House Oversight Committee has moved to issue a subpoena for a deposition, not hold an open, televised hearing and will depose Maxwell in prison, coordinating with the Bureau of Prisons and the Department of Justice to schedule the meeting.

That means Maxwell will testify privately in a closed setting, likely in a secured room with committee staff, not on the House floor or in front of cameras. Potentially a big nothing burger. Then we will all be told something like "Nothing to see here" or maybe "It's boring, just forghettaboutit".

His tactic now is to create a major distraction to disrupt the current news cycle and shift the focus. He is targeting Obama, accusing him of seditious conspiracy and treason. That could end up being the next wave of chaos that consumes some of the airwaves.

So you were oblivious the the media using trump/Epstein as a distraction to shift focus from from traitor Obama and the fake Russan collusion

Ah, off topic, untrue, but irrelevant. Now, Trump/Epstein isn't a partisan issue. You got both sides wanting transparency.

Back on topic: The motion was introduced by Rep. Tim Burchett, a Republican, seeking to subpoena Maxwell. As I said, this isn't a partisan issue. Everybody only wants the truth.

NB to the above:

Maxwell didn’t respond to a letter requesting an interview * sent to her in prison. Arthur Aidala, an attorney representing Maxwell in her appeal, said, “At this point, she is focused on her case before the Supreme Court of the United States.”

NB that the 'appeal' referenced above to the Supreme Court is not about the merits of the convictions but as to whether the 2006 NPA 'no prosecution agreement' with Epstein also covers Ms. Maxwell and the Government has replied to the Court that it does not.

An amicus brief in support of Maxwell says that it is typical that a federal NPA will specifically state that this agreement only applies to this district which the Epstein agreement does not.

e.g. from amicus:

District of Colorado: “This agreement binds only the
Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office
for the District of Colorado and the defendant.”

DOJ urges Supreme Court to turn away Epstein accomplice Ghislaine Maxwell's appeal --  July 15, 2025, 7:13 AM

The Department of Justice on Monday urged the Supreme Court to turn away an appeal from Ghislaine Maxwell, the former associate of sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, who is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for conspiring with and aiding Epstein in his sexual abuse of underage girls.

Maxwell, 63, had urged the court earlier this year to review her case, arguing that an unusual co-conspirator's clause in Epstein's 2007 non-prosecution agreement with federal prosecutors in Florida barred her subsequent prosecution in New York. A district court and a federal appeals court previously rejected that argument, and the DOJ today urged the high court to do the same.

"That contention is incorrect, and petitioner does not show that it would succeed in any court of appeals," wrote U.S. Solicitor General D. John Sauer.
