Anybody planning to go back to the US?

A few mid-western states are giving free lands in rural towns to build homes and stay in the US. Anybody planning to go back to the US with their social security? Property taxes are "alleged" to be in "hundreds" only.  And in rural Kansas one can build a house for $125K. Walmart and hospitals are within 30 minutes drive.

Without Medicaid, the hospital will close. With the tariffs, expect Walmart to be closing stores too. Podunk will be the first to go. I am staying put. Take the Trumper bot boys with you though.

If they offered me a free house, car, and a monthly stipend, I would NOT return to the U.S. First of all, it isn't the U.S. now. There is nothing 'united' about America today. Not the people, not

  • So much drama in your response. First of all, no one will offer you free car, house and money. You are not required to eat out in restaurants.    What I do dislike about paying for take out

Your imagination has gotten the better of you. I left the U.S. 34 years ago. I never had any thoughts of returning, both because of the growing racism and bigotry in the US, and the decline of personal freedoms.

Can you quantify this?

Don't know where you are coming from, but our constitutional rights are being trampled on with ICE behaving like the Gestapo, raiding farms, schools, churches, factories and private residences.  This has happened within an hours drive from where I live.  Even long time green card holders and naturalized citizens are being threatened with arrest and deportation.

What constitutional rights are being trampled.   Be specific.

The U.S. Constitution, our single most important document meant to 'guarantee' our rights is being trampled by masked gunmen dragging people out of hospitals, schools, and homes without DUE PROCESS and caged under conditions that, in the U.S., are considered Animal Abuse.

If they illegal hey get deported.   BTW...the term is not undocumented immigrants, the term is llegal alien.

GAO predictions for the hospitals and I actually passed my econ classes for Walmart. The Midwest economy is being destroyed by Trump, one market screwup at a time. Corn, wheat, soy and beef. What else is there in Kansas, tornados?

Fine, right after their hearing and resolution of their case.

Anyone who looks at more than one news source, or virtually any international news source, knows this. It's been going on a while.

If you are asking this question honestly, rather than just to gather clicks as seems to be your objective, I feel sorry for your lack of knowledge of US affairs.

I will not bother with you any longer.

Last resort only in case things go south for me in Thailand and there aren't any viable / more desirable third country options. But for Americans as no visa needed, it's worth keeping up on specific geographic options there. If you're wealthy, anywhere, but as most of use aren't, that would be lower or lower cost geographical options.

How could things go south?

So many ways. Health, visas, finances, yes.

Never say never.

The US is the least racist country on earth. No dual pricing because youre white

The fourth amendment prohibits unreasonable searches and seizures and requires warrants based on probable cause.

I replied to his demand with a specific incident which describes a violation of fourth amendment rights.  As you say, search and you will find.

Wasn't always that way, especially in the South, except the discrimination was against blacks.  Plus there were anti-Asian laws.

Incorrect - there is plenty of dual pricing no matter what color you are... usually dependent upon location of your residence...

local golf courses charge more for people from out of the county -

local universities charge more for people out of state...

and there is plenty of racism, I am sorry to say...

still the least racist country by far. Laws to prohibit discrimination like you get in thailand or the UK with their two tier justice

Absolutely correct. No dual pricing because you're white.

But try being a Black man (or Latino or Asian), trying to buy a house in a rural white neighborhood in Alabama or Louisiana.

Will they even let you into their neighborhoods? Or will they call ICE first?

I go back to the US at least twice a year and though it's not the same area you are talking about, it is Southern California, and it's not a pleasant experience. People are dour, bitter, divided, and humorless. Most are struggling. I would say 75 to 80% of the population is just getting by. Inflation is skyrocketing despite what the numbskulls say and prices are out of control. Only the people who own properties free and clear seem to be getting by without a big struggle.

There's a lie being perpetrated about America being the greatest country in the world, it is not and it hasn't been for a very long time. Some are confusing the largest economy in the world with the greatest country in the world.

A friend of mine who divides this time between Monaco and London recently visited New York and Los Angeles and he said both cities were considerably more expensive than back home. It is out of control. I'm not saying I wouldn't go back to live there under any circumstances, but it would require a sponsor stepping up and paying me a million dollars a year tax free, and I would only do it for 3 years.

And of course, no one is going to give away free houses and cars... at least, not in the U.S.  Why would you even respond to that?

My imagination????

You're the one who left over 3 decades ago and post about the USA from what you hear and read.

I plan on going back to the USA more full timeish in a few years. Still alot of things I want to see and do there. It's a pretty awesome place.

Half of America just doesn't care.
It's certainly not the America I grew up in.

just a guess - you are not black or brown - you are an angry white guy? Do the black people scare you? That is a serious question - I am American but have not lived there in many many years.

My parents lived in a nice area of NYC, but I remember visiting them in the 1990s and it was a little scary with some small groups of teens who were beating and robbing people, especially older people.

They were too afraid to live there and had to move away into a small town where I was living that was safe. - - We were taught about the freedom we had in America but my parents were not free to live

in the neighborhood that they loved so much.

We may pay an extra fee at National Parks, but it is minimal. And here, I have never felt in danger walking the streets. Mostly I have not lived in tourist areas and have many many heartwarming stories and moments with Thai people.

I am sorry that you hold so much anger - it is not healthy for you

Oh yeah? When did you grow up? I hadn't noticed - - [I mean that in the best way - but you know that]

I have no car lately and have just been staying home - I look forward to catching you for lunch next month...

The dual pricing spans further than that. I feel safer where i live in the US than anywhere in thailand when i have to get in a vehicle. If youre dumb enough to take a username at face value i dont know what to tell you

Oh, I thought you were a NY'er... I was just talking to a friend who is living in Fla... and he says it is overrun. He is in an expensive gated community w/a fabulous restaurant and everything he needs

within a short walk - he never goes to the beach - he has no financial issues and he just told me that he would love to move to a small town in Vermont - but - kids and grandkids are all in Fla -
