Conspiracy Believers are Dispositionally Overconfident

Featured Replies

recent paper titled "Conspiracy Believers are Dispositionally Overconfident and Massively Overestimate How Much Others Agree With Them" makes an interesting read.  Apparently:

"Although conspiratorial claims were believed by a majority of participants only 12% of the time, believers thought themselves to be in the majority 93% of the time."

and

"conspiracists are genuinely unaware that their beliefs are on the fringe"

Also

"The people who most need help distinguishing truth from falsity are the least likely to recognize that they need it."

The original paper is at https://journals.sagepub.com/doi/10.1177/01461672251338358 but is paywalled.
