For the past year I've had a monthly transfer set up on my SCB phone app. From my SCB account to my wife's GSB account. On the first of every month the housekeeping money I give her automatically went into her bank account. Now that has expired and I can't set up another schedule.

I can make a one-time transfer immediately, which I did today, but my app no longer allows me to schedule a transfer, for example, for tomorrow, or a day next week, or the first of each month for the coming year.

I've contacted both banks but haven't received any sort of explanation, and I'm starting to wonder if it's a new restriction applied to accounts in foreigner's names.

Does anyone know anything, or had a similar experience, or know of a solution?

I log into the SCB mobile banking app and then I click on Banking Services > Transfer. Then I choose which account to make the transfer to. Then I click on "Set a Schedule". Then I click on the "Monthly" tab. Then I set a start date and an end date. And I set "Make payment every" to whatever date I want the payment to repeat on every month. I think the maximum time period you can set is an "End date" that is no more than 12 months from the current date. So if you want to do monthly payments you cannot set it up in advance to do more than 12 monthly payments. After 12 months you have to set it all up again.

UOB is better in this regard as you can set up to 24 months of monthly payments in advance I believe.

Hi and thanks for your answer. Yes, what you describe here is exactly what I do. In the past I did just that. But now when I try to do it  I ser everything up then when I press review I get the message "Unable to proceed. We cannot process this transaction at the moment".  And in the calendar it reads "You have no scheduled transactions". So the app no longer allows me to to make monthly schedule transactions, and it doesn't even let me make a ONCE scheduled transaction. But I can make an immediate transaction.

All very confusing. There are no issues at my end. Plenty of money in my bank, I'm not trying to make massive transactions, and all my details are up to date, I went into the bank a few months ago with my PP and checked everything was up to date.

In that case, I would just go to an SCB branch and show them the issue with the app on your phone and see what they say.

The only other thing I can think of is that if the transfer amount you are trying to schedule is above ฿49,999, it might be restricted for security reasons.

I believe the app now requires a face scan for any transfer over that amount. Meaning, you will now need to scan your face each time with the app to complete a transaction above that amount, which is something you wouldn't be able to do with a scheduled transfer, and that's probably why they don't allow it.

Try putting in a lower amount of only 5,000 Baht as a test and see what happens.

Thanks again, no it's not about a large amount, it's actually 15,000, however, I've been on the phone again to the SCB call center, apparantly the IT guys are looking at it and will call me when they find the issue. At first I thought it might be some new restriction on farang accounts, but now it seems like a technical hitch with my app or their system.

About that face scan, I read that farang couldn't use that feature. Do you know if that's correct?

Sounds to me like you've got a 'foreigner detected' error on your app.

Maybe, that's the way my mind has been thinking too. Hopefully not.
