Road tax not paid for 5 years?

Featured Replies

Road tax/porobo have not been paid for 5 years++ on motorbike. Q: will the new owner be liable to pay for previous years or it will be 0 in case of sold/transferred?

YES

Wasn't the rule that after 3 years the vehicle registration is voided and you have to start a new registration (books, plates...)?

Go to the DLT and check before you continue a purchase.

if possible you have to bring the bike to technical inspection and then pay tax for five plus one years plus 1% interest per month.

We did it, and they re-registered the bike after the under-the-table payment.

The documents were sent to the main city, so we just popped back to the local department after a phone call to confirm they'd arrived.

The bike had been borrowed by a brother working in Bangkok, who, of course, never bothered with road tax.

Excellent..........👍

D O N ' T   touch the bike until ownership is transferred:

a) after three consecutive years the present (seller) owner has to rock up with a pile of paperwork, otherwise the bike will not be transferable
b) all past dues have to be paid up plus a late-payment-fee of 1% per month. So five years taxes are to be paid and a fine of 60% of a one-year taxation.
c) if the taxation/insurance was absolutely irrelevant to the present owner, you can imagine what (s)he did as far as preventive maintenance is concerned.

  • 1 month later...

one of my bikes has been in my shed undergoing a restoration for 4 years  I will be  re taxing it again in November   ,, what will happen  bike was taxed up to 2021
