New Sound Bar.

Another useless thread, taken over.

OP has just disappeared and most every post is off-topic.

You can turn up the volume, increase the bass...it won't make a difference. It is missing and cannot be reproduced.

The cheap and gimmicky systems simply turn up the equalizer to the maximum, in so that everything is exaggerated and unnatural....but still lacking depth.

When you have a system that can reproduce the notes, you can keep the volume low and still appreciate the music.

Jake, you do not need musical knowledge to know that if you hit a low note and turn the volume up, no sound below the capability of the woofer will be accurately reproduced, the vibrations are being picked up, shoved in and then out of the amp, but the speakers will not take it.

This also applies to turning the treble up, above your own hearing capabilities, I have blown a tweeter or two doing this.

@KannikaP Thanks for agreeing with me 😊

The OP needs to get something that gets closer to being able to reproducing those long waves.  You can obtain reference tones that go through the spectrum from 20Hz to 20KHz, to see what your system can cover.

Likely the smaller and gimmicky systems won't respond until it hits the lower mid-range, let alone bass frequencies. The lowest note on a standard piano is around 27Hz and that will also produce harmonics at 54Hz and 81Hz etc

Vocals as low as 60Hz

Electric bass, B string around 30Hz, E string around 41Hz.

Even a bass cabinet used by pros with 10" plus speakers can start to 'roll off' at 60Hz. So that will tell you something about the claimed specification of the little consumer speakers.

Honest specification would always have a decibel figure to indicate that the specifications are correct within certain limits e.g. +/- 3dB

Without that, the specification is essentially meaningless.

So if you want to hear more of the music, get something that can go some way to reproducing some of the lower end too. Then you'll be able to detect more of what they are trying to tell you.

Today my neighbor challenged me that the JBL 1300X is far superior to the Klipsch Flexus Core 200. I'm sure the JBL is fine but it's not a value like the Klipsch. The JBL is probably more comparable to the Samsung Q990 series or Sony Quads, and I can find Q990's much cheaper than the JBL here in Thailand.

My contention is that the Klipsch is a decent priced sound bar with excellent/strong sound straight out of the box w/o any sub or satellite speakers.

Can the Klipsch be beat? Yes, maybe by the Q990's(if you like the Samsung profile) or the Bose Smart but I just can't justify buying the expensive JBL 1300X.

Does the sound from the front stand mounted speakers not interfere with each other. In my experience..YES.

It was just temporary to make sure everything was working before putting it up for sale.

So now people are talking about products 10x the OP's budget...

Personally, I’d go second hand with just 2 speakers.  Something like the Bose Companion 2 series II.  I had a pair many years ago (and gave them away!) and for the price, you can’t really go wrong.  Even the bass is surprisingly good.

I have a pair of Q Audio BTS3 (not for sale) which I’d recommend for the next step and even before the Bose as they have Bluetooth capability.  Not sure how easy to find used though.  Again….good bass response.

Beyond that…

Where do you even buy those things when not living near Bangkok ?

It's not like thailand is full of hifi stores.

Sure  you find all that cheap aconatic-like sh!t on lazada and powerbuy/supermarkets,

but real conventional good quality hifi ?

You'd want to listen to it before buying.

Sorry the first one was silly sorry, I apologise.

What's wrong with the second one?

500 W RMS per channel is the amplifier I built a long time ago, so if you have this power and a great frequency response like listening to a symphony orchestra...got all the highs and mid and low frequencies. That's what you'd want in a great sound system.

That might be a great system but the OP is looking for something affordable and probably easy to setup.

I have a HSU Research VTF-3 Mark 2 Subwoofer, POLK Audio TSX 150C center speaker and a pair of POLK Audio Bookshelf speakers all hooked up to a Denon Amp.

My setup is a few years old but still sounds amazing.  Only thing is it cost me considerably more than the OP is likely looking to spend and the Subwoofer weighs almost 100 lbs!

If I turn it up I can make the entire condo building rock!!

I bought a sound bar from Lazada on the advice of posters and the one I have works well enough and was cheap, only around 300 Baht. But I need one which has a good sound system for playing music, which means one with a good bass sound and is much more expensive. I have checked the ones on Lazada for around 2000 Baht, but they do not seem to have an input for headphones or earplugs.

I am about 50 Ks away from the big shopping malls, can I get one? Maybe from the likes of Power Buy and Banana etc.

where is 50 km away mean

Many smaller malls sell great sound systems.    I would even hazard to add that they are cheaper and better stocked than the big malls.

Are you talking about a soundbar for a home theatre system or some kind of speaker like a JBL or Bose copy?

A soundbar for a home theatre system would be nice but well out of my price range.

Both extremely reliable, but for a decent sound bar I'd pay at least ten times your 2k figure.

2k is for the sala bums gadgets...

Absolute nonsense @Peter Crow The OP wants to listen to music. There was no request for surround sound effects and other related nonsense. Just something with which they can listen to music. The system is which I linked is a good allround choice for under 2000 baht.

I have no idea why we get these kind of people attracted to a thread that states a budget of 2000 baht. Braggadocio?

Suggesting a system costing 31,000 baht more than the OP's allocated budget? Idiots.

Sorry for getting your undies into a knot...

But you might have noted that I have answered the OP's query by confirming that both Banana IT and Powerbuy are reliable OL vendors...

Anyhow be my guest whenever you feel a hissing fit will give you relief.

The budget is 2000 baht. I already pointed out that the system to which I linked is also available via PowerBuy for 2000 baht. Thank you for your attention @Peter Crow

Enjoy your expensive sound system. You must be so proud.

Yeah.  Not much outside BKK

Fortune Town Mall in BKK is a goldmine for high end shops both new and used.   Piyanas (many locations and can also shop online) is a good one stop shop and sometimes has some demo gear available at deep discount.  Hifi99 at Platinum Mall is good for used gear.

Chiangmai has Neo entertainment gallery (coffee shop/Bose type stuff downstairs and serious gear upstairs)

I bought most of my stuff second hand on Facebook Marketplace (from dealers and private parties) and had no problems auditioning it all.  But yeah….choices are slim.  Fair prices, however.

For the OP and his budget I’d still recommend second hand Bose or something like the Edifier M4 powered speaker (can be had for ฿2200 new on Facebook).

@Airalee The Edifier M4 looks good on paper, certainly a decent choice for someone who listens using high quality music sources. The main caveat being the price being closer to 3000 baht (a link to your 2200 baht new price might have be helpful) and the lack of a low end response. I guess it will roll off around 150 Hz. A good and relatively accurate, if slightly bright sound. But missing a low end.

I think it’s gonna be tough to find anything with a sub for 2k that doesn’t sound like a fart.  I’d go for the higher quality speakers first and then save another 2-3k for a sub at a later date.  It will make for a nice upgrade when the time comes.

A good place in Bangkok for the less expensive speakers is this place….

Music listening is personal.

Someone says, ah that one is good, maybe you dont like. Ah the bass , heavy dude, maybe too much.

Put some music on phone , take some wires with you (or not), make up your budget and go out and try in shops.

Decide with or without bassbox and done. More like 5.1 or 7.1?, what ever you like and want to pay.

Like the sound of music or not? Worthwhile spending the money? Take it.

My computer hangs on a Logitech Z906, great sound. But use it only if really listening music at comp.

Would a Bowers & Wilkins Nautilus be so much better? No clue, never saw one in real or heard it, has something to do with prices.

Only to be bought if miljonair. but would love to hear them once. A pair discount, costing $68.706,92

And then you have to buy separate the amps and wiring.

I do not need to change my soundbar now, thanks to KannikaP. He told me about a earphones connection in my tower which the soundbar does not have, it has made a big difference.

I found a thingy called FxSound which has everything to control your sound and volume, and that is on a 300bt sound bar which CharlieH mentioned.

It is every bit as good if not better than the sound system I had before which cost about 2000Bt.

Also. I want to thank all the posters who contributed to this topic.

Yes, for listening to music, but also for watching movies and tv shows which I torrent.

A 300 baht system sounds the same as a 2000 baht system @NoshowJones? Righty o...

It has two 2" speakers within. I don't think they'll be pushing any amount of air 😊

Imagine someone kicking a bass drum and the amount of air that produces....and then imagine those tiny two inch speakers.

Better than nothing I suppose.
