Police in Pattaya were called at 03:45 on 11 August, to a violent incident involving a man in a frenzied state who smashed up property and had sustained serious injuries.

Pol Lt Sontaya Khonsap, deputy inspector with Pattaya City Police, received the report and coordinated with rescue volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation. The incident occurred at a health massage shop on Central Pattaya Road.

On arrival, officers found the shop’s front glass door shattered, with blood splattered across the floor. The suspect, reportedly a South Korean national, had fled into an adjacent nail salon and was found lying in a pool of blood in the bedroom of his former girlfriend, weakened from heavy blood loss. He was given first aid before being rushed to hospital.

A search of the ex-girlfriend’s third-floor bedroom revealed extensive damage to furniture and bloodstains on the floor. The woman, visibly shaken, had taken refuge downstairs and pleaded with onlookers not to take photographs.

A cleaner at the massage shop told police she had been asleep when the loud crash of shattering glass woke her. Initially thinking a car had hit the shop, she got up to investigate and was shocked to find a foreign man, covered in blood, shouting incoherently. When staff threatened to call police, he fled into the nail salon next door.

Police confirmed the suspect was the same man involved in an incident on 16 June, when he allegedly detained his then-girlfriend in the same nail salon after discovering she was seeing another man. He fled the scene on a bicycle but was later arrested in possession of a loaded Sig Sauer P320 pistol with 15 rounds in the magazine.

It is believed the man had been released on bail pending trial for the June incident. Residents expressed concern that he was able to commit another violent act in less than two months, saying the repeated nature of the offences had left the community fearful.

Fortunately, no one else was injured in the latest incident, though property damage was extensive.
