In a fresh nod to Vietnam's rich heritage, the Vietnam Railways Corporation (VRC) is set to launch "The Hanoi Train" on 19 August. Coinciding with nationwide festivities, this new service promises to become a cultural icon.

The project brings history to life by transforming seven A2T double-decker carriages into engaging tourist coaches that blend vintage elegance with contemporary comfort. This unique train features five themed passenger coaches, each inspired by one of Hanoi's historical city gates, including O Quan Chuong and O Cau Giay. Passengers can enjoy interiors rich with wood accents and soft lighting, designed to evoke the charm of the capital's storied past, all while gazing through wide windows that offer panoramic views.

Operating three round trips daily, the train will depart from Hanoi Station at 8:00, 14:00, and 20:30. It will make stops at Long Bien, Gia Lam, Yen Vien, and Tu Son (Bac Ninh) Stations, offering travellers both daytime and nighttime experiences.

This innovative service comes at a time when the country is gearing up for its National Day celebrations, aiming to position the train as a standout attraction. The final touches are being applied to ensure that the seven cars are ready to grace the tracks for the holiday period.

In a bid to streamline the travel experience, VRC is also introducing a biometric ticketing system, harnessing the power of the VNeID app. This new system will be available at Hanoi Station, setting a precedent in modernising railway services in the region.

With a harmonious blend of nostalgia and storytelling, "The Hanoi Train" represents a compelling new chapter in Vietnam's tourism narrative, inviting both locals and visitors to explore the capital's historical essence in a contemporary setting. This initiative not only celebrates Hanoi’s vibrant past but also looks forward to a bright future in tourism, promising a ride that’s more than just a journey—it's an experience.
