Crime Man Stabbed to Death in Roadside Fight in Ang Thong
Picture courtesy of CH7. A 24-year-old man was killed following a roadside altercation on the Asia Highway in Chaiyo district in the early hours of 16 August. Police received an emergency call at 02:40, reporting a violent dispute involving knives near kilometre 65 of the northbound route in Chaiyaphum subdistrict. Emergency responders rushed the victim, identified as Mr Suthipong, 24, to Chaiyo Hospital after he sustained a severe stab wound to the neck. He later died from his injuries. The suspect, also aged 24, was waiting at the scene with a 20-centimetre long knife and surrendered to authorities. He was taken to Chaiyo Police Station for questioning. The man, identified as Mr Kittithorn, told investigators that the confrontation stemmed from an earlier verbal dispute over the phone. He said he had travelled from Bangkok to meet the victim and a group of six friends from Uthai Thani in an attempt to resolve the matter. According to Mr Kittithorn, tensions escalated during a roadside meeting, leading to a physical fight during which he stabbed the victim in a moment of anger. He claimed the argument was triggered by insults and threats made by the victim. Police are continuing to question witnesses and examine evidence to determine the precise circumstances of the incident. The victim’s body has been sent to the Ministry of Justice’s Institute of Forensic Science for a formal post-mortem examination. Authorities have confirmed that the case is under investigation, and legal proceedings will follow. Adapted by Asean Now from CH7 2025-08-17 -
