Bang Khun Thian police have arrested the former boyfriend of a wealthy family’s daughter after he allegedly stole cash and gold bars worth more than 2 million baht.

The suspect, Mr Nattanun, 25, was taken into custody at a restaurant in Sathorn District, Bangkok, where he worked as a waiter. Police seized multiple items linked to the theft, including two iPhone 16 Pro Max phones, a Shark helmet, branded trainers, Pandora jewellery, Buddhist amulets, two bank passbooks and the motorcycle used in the crimes.

The case was reported on 10 August, when the victim told police that valuables had disappeared from her Bang Khun Thian home. Stolen items included three 10-baht gold bars, gold bracelets weighing 3 and 1 baht, 280,000 baht in cash and 10,000 baht in red envelopes. They had all been stored in a locked safe inside the residence.

Investigators quickly identified Mr Nattanun, who had previously been in a relationship with the family’s daughter and was familiar with the house and the location of valuables. A warrant for his arrest was issued by Thonburi Criminal Court, leading to his capture.

During questioning, the suspect confessed to carrying out the theft on eight occasions over the course of a month, entering the home while the family was out during the day. He admitted to selling the stolen gold and spending the proceeds on personal expenses, gambling and to repay gambling debts.

Mr Nattanun now faces charges of residential burglary, theft using a vehicle and unlawful entry. He has been transferred to Bang Khun Thian police for further legal proceedings.
