I visited a large cannabis shop - their menu has 139 flower options - in Bangkok mid-Sukhumvit, and can report that at this shop there is no requirement for a medical card, medical exam, or prescription. No limits on quantity, no ID required.

 

I think we're still in the - now rolling - 30-60 day pause first initiated on June 28, 2025. So things are as they always were.

Well you continue to reply to me, I didn’t see that reply before I woke up today. This is the dynamic of the forum, you insult me, I say may mind and that’s where you come short, not willing to see the problem. Actually what is your real problem with my opinion’s?

 

I have told people to not smoke in public when it concerns me and my, and you call me out as an anonymous coward. If I sit in a restaurant and eating, and they’re is clear it is a smoke free table and area, I do tell them, do not worry, but it seems nobody care anymore, even cigarette smokers.

I have the opposite experience to you. Even if I am sitting outside, if I am eating and someone nearby begins to light up, I speak to them and they stop or get up and move away from the restaurant. It's obviously down to the way you communicate. I speak to their conscience.

You got a nice way to express you concerns for me 😉 As said, I first read it today. And you think nobody agrees with me? Well that’s your opinion in a weed topic in the section of weed for special interested at a forum. Im totally okay with some gets annoyed and feel I’m a prick, no problem. Most smokers whatever they smokes gets annoyed by being told not to smoke at places they shouldn’t, and didn’t expect anything more here. Hummin, you’ve spent 20 odd posts saying the exact same thing: “what’s the law and what’s enforced are two different things.” Congratulations, you’ve just described Thailand, not uncovered some hidden conspiracy. That’s how it works here, always has, always will.

 

You complain shops opened on shaky ground. True. You complain the government is clumsy and political. True. You complain about selective enforcement. True again. But none of that is news to anyone who has actually lived here longer than a visa run.

 

The bottom line is simple: recreational cannabis was never made legal, only medical under rules. The shops gambled, the government let it run, now they’re pulling it back. End of story. Everything you’ve been ranting about boils down to that one line.

 

So after dozens of posts, the “big revelation” is that Thailand is inconsistent and muddled in how it makes and enforces rules. Thanks, but we already knew. The rest is just you spinning your wheels. That’s Thailand, always has been, always will be. There’s no mystery here, and nothing left for you to explain. Welcome to the real world in Thailand. This is incorrect.

 

The production, sale, possession, and personal/recreational use of cannabis flower has been legal since 9 June 2022.

 

Medical use was legalized in 2019.

Whenever I give up smoking weed, I love the smell of a joint. I've heard people who've never smoked say the same thing. I haven't smoke tobacco for years but the smell of a joint is always quite pleasant to me.

 

But...I do understand and accept that some people don't like it.

Comes with the territory, and if you paid attention to the few reports available in thai English media, you would know, and also do have some various Thai friends who follow Thai news, they would tell you.
