Fine. I stated "some offices" require activity in account same day as application.

Good news that CM accept ATM update.

I'm aware BBL provides that.

Do all banks?

I don't know about other banks, in that I've only had accounts at Bangkok Bank since I've lived in Thailand. My assumption, however, is that all banks would provide a service that one of their competitors provides. They wouldn't want to lose customers to Bangkok Bank if this service were important enough to customers that they would only have accounts at banks that offered it.

Prior to the online booking system, I would go to CM Immigration as early as 05.30 just to get a queue number low enough to be processed and homeward bound before 10.00 or 11.00. That was due to the s

In cm I update the bank book the day before going to the io, done at the bank while getting the statements after making a small transaction right before walking into the bank. Then off to the io the next morning with full copies of everything including all pp pages that have stamps/stickers/markings. Bring everything, copies and all because it seems they want some new additional every year.

My understanding has always been that you have to update the bank book the very same day that you go to Immigration for your visa extension. I'm surprised that you could do it the day before. Also, I always go to the bank for the yearly statement about 10 days before I plan to go to Immigration. This is because it takes a few days to get the statement as it has to come from Bangkok. I don't see how you could get it the day before. And, yes, I am always very careful to have all the required documents properly prepared before I'm off to extend my visa, including any new requirements in any given year. In the many years I've had a retirement visa, I've never had a problem with any document being improperly prepared or missing. I hope that my winning streak continues.

That's because BBL take 3-5 days to provide 12 month bank statement.

Other banks can do the statement on the spot.

I obtain statement + Letter day or two prior.

Maybe the case for other IO’s, not cm. Can be done days before. I just have the banker do the update.

The BBL I use in cm it’s seven days and I time it to the day before going to the io and considering timing for weekends in case something goes awry, don’t want the seven day validity of the bank statements to end on a weekend or holiday.

Anyway, if one is mentally and physically capable, doing extensions in cm is really easy, probably takes just as much time as going to an agent, maybe less.

I've been using Gold and Tree Visa on the top floor of Pantip Plaza for several years now. I had been doing everything myself, then during the pandemic I needed some extra help so went to them, and I've turned everything over to them now -- renewals, 90-day reporting, etc. They're great, and very reasonably priced. Good luck!

No, I am not on overstay. My visa expires on November 4th. I should have said that I want to extend my permission to stay with retirement as the reason. It was just a matter of not using the correct language. The reason I could not book an appointment is that the Immigration website showed that all the slots on the day I tried to book were taken. I went there exactly at midnight, so that could not have been the case. There seems to be a problem with the website, in that all the slots on every day are shown to be taken. This was not the case in years past, when I was always able to book a time slot by selecting the one I wanted at exactly midnight.

you can just front up on the day, get a queue number, get your documents checked, go inside to C5 and wait.

I have used OS Visa in Chiang Mai to pull me out of a fix on several occasions.

If you fail to obtain an appointment and end up doing a walk in... please do a report of experience after approval.

Would be very helpful to others.

One issue I'm not sure of is that some offices insist on bank book update on day of application.

Difficult if you're at immigration at 8am

I did my extension on July 24. In Chiang Mai.

Arrived 07.55 and got a number for the document check outside.

The office opend 08.30.

Was handed in the documents 10.00.

Got my passport back 10.55.

So total 3 hours.

You can go on the morning - without any agent - having prepared all documents. There is a desk for "pre-checking". Your documents will be checked. Later you will wait. Got a number. Will hear your name, pay and wait to receive your stamped passport And in my case I was out of Immigration after 3 hrs. (Once per year!) Long time, but no hassle at all.

I never used an agent.

Now away from CM but when I retired here, Best Friend visa service was recommended by and old X-Pat. I used them and everything was great.  They assisted with changing tourist to retirement showed me where to go to open bank account (that was 2019) and didn't need to leave the country.. My dealing with them was great..

I stopped by an agent, one mentioned in this OP. 5900 baht quote- That for getting me to the IO officer.  My docs are not an issue.  However they said it would take an hour.  😐.  That is just enough for me to pack toys, grab the T-Raks tablet, loaded with footie & cartoons. Another half day & numb butt cheeks coming up. Woohoo!
