Anutin and Prawit Dine Amid Paetongtarn Court Ruling Tension

BANGKOK -  Bhumjaithai Party leader Anutin Charnvirakul and Palang Pracharath Party chief Gen Prawit Wongsuwon dined together on Thursday, just as a court ruling looms over suspended PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra. After leaving Paetongtarn's Pheu Thai Party, both leaders, who were previously part of a coalition, are now navigating the opposition landscape.

Meeting at Gen Prawit's Five Provinces Bordering Forest Preservation Foundation, the duo, along with key figures Santi Prompat and Chaiwut Thanakhamanusorn, tackled pressing national and boundary issues. The lunch featured homemade chicken gravy with rice, and Gen Prawit sent Anutin off with an extra helping.

The backdrop? Intense discussions on Thai-Cambodian border MoUs, which Bhumjaithai wants scrapped due to alleged Cambodian breaches. With the Constitutional Court soon deciding Paetongtarn’s political fate, pressure mounts. Accused of inappropriate discussions with Cambodia's ex-leader Hun Sen, her leadership hangs by a thread.

A potential removal of Paetongtarn would throw Parliament into a frenzy to select a new prime minister from pre-approved candidates. Pheu Thai's remaining choice, Chaikasem Nitisiri, faces lukewarm party support. Meanwhile, Anutin, commanding 69 MPs, is seen by some as a dark horse, needing only strategic backing to seize leadership, reported the Bangkok Post.

Bhumjaithai's June exit from government followed phone call controversies involving Paetongtarn, pressuring her accountability. Tensions had risen over ministerial positions, with Bhumjaithai clashing with Pheu Thai on issues like cannabis policies and contentious land cases.

Prawit the man who can’t stay awake through a meeting and Anutin who hates foreigners. I’m a bit worried what will happen If daddy didn’t pay enough people off to keep his puppet in place.

Meeting at Gen Prawit's Five Provinces Bordering Forest Preservation Foundation,

Sometimes Thai politics absolutely plumbs the depths of irony.

Huge amounts of money were made from smuggling illegal teak and rosewood across the border from Cambodia - money = power = political career.

Votes don't come into it, and he certainly didn't " marry well"!

I agree, if A-nut-in is the new P.M. the future could be harder for us, his middle names are xenophobic racist.

I think this pairing could work.  All they would need to get Anutin or Prwit in power is an agreement that this fall or early next year they will call an election.

When baby girl gets the boot the PTP will be in worse shape.  Therefore, it would make sense for PP BJT and the military to step in, take over, and call a snap election while Thaksin is still trying to regain some of his street cred.

Right now, the PTP has done nothing good for the people and has a lot of issues.  Their ability to fulfill election promises again is a laughable effort.

No I donot see BJT winning the election but I do see BJT and the military maybe getting a few extra seats but more inportantly, just like they got rid of the Dem party a quick election will do the same thing for the PTP

Strange that the opposition only has Bumjaithai and the PPP, but the most important party the Peoples Party, seems not to exist in the news or is being ignored. Only the old guard is important

I see he is well dressed in a green tracksuit - a dinosaur about to become extinct?

Questions about what to do after politics, neither can win an election and they stabbed the move forward party in the back and now done the same with phue thai party, chances of remaining in politics are seriously unattainable

Prawit's Forest Foundation is equipped with the same gilded baroque furniture beloved of Thai hierarchy yet he shows his humbleness by presenting a scant bag of scallions to his potential adversary.😋

Be careful what you wish wish for

Just another nail in the coffin for Thailand I'm afraid, particularly the economy

I wonder if Prawit is lining up another journalist to punch...
