In an incident at a local market, a man shot his former wife before turning the gun on himself. Police from Mueang Chiang Rai Station were alerted to a shooting with casualties at a market in the Huai Sak sub-district.

Upon arrival, officers discovered the body of 72-year-old Mr. Samart, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head. A injured woman, identified as 54-year-old Mrs. Somron, a food vendor at the market, was found with a gunshot wound to her leg. Bystanders had already rushed her to Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital for treatment before police secured the scene.

Preliminary investigations from witness accounts reveal that Mr. Samart and Mrs. Somron were formerly married but had separated three to four months prior. Mr. Samart had reportedly been attempting to reconcile with his former wife.

According to police, the suspect arrived at the market on a blue motorcycle and approached Mrs. Somron. After a brief conversation, he produced a 9mm handgun and opened fire, striking her in the leg. After shooting his former wife, the man then used the same weapon to take his own life.

Speaking from her hospital bed, Mrs. Somron confirmed the couple's history. She stated that before the shooting, Mr. Samart had come to her stall claiming he wanted to buy food.

"I gave him two packages of food," she said. "Then he drew a gun and shot at me. I believe he meant to shoot me directly, but the first bullet hit my leg. The second shot didn't hit anyone. I didn't see the moment he took his own life."

Forensic officers collected evidence from the scene, and a medical examiner has conducted a preliminary examination of the body. The investigation remains ongoing, with police preparing to take formal statements from all witnesses involved, to confirm the sequence of events.

I don´t get why they have to shoot their ex.? Just end it, and be a man instead of a weak coward.

Not as Samart as his name would suggest.
