Nok Air Banned from Overseas Routes Over Safety Shortcomings

Thailand’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAAT) has ordered Nok Air to suspend all international flights due to ongoing safety concerns, including incidents like in‑flight engine shutdowns and runway excursions between 2023 and 2025. The airline, which currently isn't operating international routes due to low travel demand, has been asked to provide a root cause analysis for the unexplained engine failure—and reportedly no longer possesses the engine in question. CAAT also pointed to high turnover among key aviation personnel as an issue undermining operational consistency. Though domestic flights remain, Nok Air must address these safety deficiencies rapidly—hopefully within a month—especially ahead of an upcoming ICAO audit of Thailand’s aviation system.
