ALL my WISE UK transfers to Bangkok Bank arrive as International Transfers, FTT in your bank book. Did one this week for my IO requirement. As always, it arrives just after 14.00 on the following day

  • Makes perfect sense.  Problem is immigration. They have very set in stone way of doing things.

  • People don't seem to have issues using Kasikorn for the monthly 65k, maybe time to switch

Please tell us all how, so none of these problems will occur, thanks.

Try asking bank for the 12 month statement in Thai language.......Yeah Spot On Jack 555

That was my initial reaction.

However the suggestion came from switched on poster so I checked it out.

Seems in Thai script for the transfer it translates to "funds from abroad"

We always have "credit advice" from banks to fall back on

You can send EUR to Kasikorn Baht account. They will do the exchange.

What WISE actually does?

Send Baht from a domestic account?

You can send EUR to Kasikorn Baht account. They will do the exchange...O.K. Only EUR Then ?? Because in my KBank Branch in NK,I've NOT Seen an Exchange rate sheet for Years,But on the OTHER Hand I Was behind a Thai Guy in that branch about a Month ago & He was "Changing " Literally Thousands of USD " Cash "

I'm Sure that When you are transferring your money it gives a LIST of Banks & tells you to choose which Bank you want your money to go into....Doesn't Matter WHICH Thai bank you choose You get the SAME Exchange rate from Wise.....

What are you on about? You tell them it is YOUR Bangkok Bank you want the money to go to. The list of banks are the ones YOU have already told WISE you have, and you click the desired recipient, be it my own in THB or to my sons in Dubai Dirhams.

You didn't tell us how to tag our Thai accounts, M8 !

Of course, the exchange rate is set by WISE and not by the Thai bank, If you transfer say GBP to Bangkok Bank, WISE will first convert it to THB and then send it.

Please cancel the capitalisation on your typing, thanks. I use it for emphasis when I want to, or when proper English dictates that it should be.

Please stop it.

I get a headache from the nonsense you write.

Of course Kasikorn and all big banks have exchange rate tables updated 3 to 4 times a day.

If you send with SWIFT the money comes to the the Thai bank in your currency and is converted according to the TT exchange rate of the bank and a fee up to 250 Baht taken.

0.4%, 250 min, 500 max if I remember right.

Wise received my Aus Dollars this morning at 0628. I sent it at 0626.It converted to 100,015 Baht. It was sent to my bank at 0954. It arrived in my Bangkok Bank at 1402 and marked as Foreign Transfer on my online bank account. I am happy.

I have given up with WISE -> Kasikorn -> Bangkok Bank (transfer from Sep 1).

Yesterday spent a lot of time and effort, wasted.

Bangkok Bank gives me a credit advice (too two mails to Bangkok, endless wait at the counter).

Result: money comes from Kasikorn 🙄

They sent me to Kasikorn (where two days ago I was told to go to Bangkok Bank).

So yesterday after BKB went again straight to Kasikorn branch manager with the WISE document and "partner bank reference". No clue, endless hanging on the customer hotline (worse than BKB).

I was stressed and told her that I give up and went home.

Only success yesterday: opened a new savings account at Krungsri.

Went alone and basically only passport, yellow book, pink card.

More than an hour, up to three persons involved

Almost failed at the point of tax residence and TIN.

Finally wrote my country of birth (left 60 years ago) and "can not".

Same for "home country address". Wrote some good guess from 60 years ago.

Fortunately no proof needed.

I had tried another test transfer (EUR) on Sep 15, three days ago and unchanged "DEP TRF FR E-CH". Looks like it depends on the origin currency.

How much was your test? I think if it exceed 100,000 baht it will arrive as international tranfer.

I made a Wise transfer yesterday and received the funds today to my Bangkok Bank account, and it's back to what it used to be, showing as an International Transfer.

Next Wednesday I will do my last of 12 transfers to BKB.

As a born pessimist I don't expect improvement. Will see.

100'000 Baht (a month).

Will have a word with the pension office 😁

From November I will try Kasikorn and then hope WISE doesn't change methods again.

SWIFT is bloody expensive fee and worse rate (checked at WISE).

I hate to have 800k frozen!
